"brothers and sisters"?

Todd, you sound like a cult.

(Not that I expected any different from union workers)

Pretty much what it is. You have to be brainwashed to go for their spill nowadays.

I can't help but laugh at these union shills. I'm actually just pissed the company is being forced to let them back to their jobs.

It'd be better if they were all fired. It'd happen to any normal person if they decided to no-show for a month.

It all depends on what you are worth to your company.

While I hate unions and feel they are basically useless nowadays, you cannot compare these situations. These people are not individually choosing to no-show. The company basically kicks then out. However, I have a feeling that come next Monday....there will be a major shake-up if a deal isn't reached. Would be awesome to watch all the employees from a plant negotiate a return and drop the union.....

Would be the best thing for the companies and employees out of work at the moment.

The union members would be better to decertify than to go local only. They have little to no bargaining power.

The company isn't being forced to let us back, they are wanting us to come back. Big difference.

How about join the real world where your "bargaining power" is the ability to do the job you where hired to the best of your ability and let the best workers get the best wages while allowing for the flexibility to replace the incompetent fools that can't do the job they where hired to do at the level of expectation determined by the company that pays the wages.

As I said way back in this thread, you don't always want that type of job review. Your not dealing with sales numbers or customer satisfaction. Employee competition out there can lead to some really bad situations.

Union members are fired all the time, don't buy into the talk that the union saves everyone.

Do they post the number/percentage crossed on a board at the Hall? I haven't been by there since people started crossing.

Not that I know of, but I think by at least Tuesday for the meeting they'll have a soft number.

ETA I just heard it's between 10 and 20 somewhere but nothing official.

This is Norco, not Convent.

I'm at the Norco Hall today. There is a list of "Scabs" that's only about 20 names. They said that's only the ones they know about. Heard the real number is increasing daily and is at least 50.

They also said that the call on Wednesday will be at 5:00 and will be broadcast at the Hall.

They broadcast the conference call daily but Wednesday will be the big day. If nothing happens Wednesday, keep your ear to the ground, a lot of people will be crossing. It's going to sound like a stampede IMO.

I've worked for Shell for almost 10 years at several of the sites out on strike and have NEVER seen a union employee fired except for theft.

Caught sleeping, breaking safety rules, drug use, etc. None were grounds for a termination to stick. Sure the company tried, but the union worked them back in.
