USW is a damn joke and these demands are outrageous.

BTW this is coming from a member of the USW. But I don't work in a refinery.

I think most of them are jokes and no longer serve the purpose for which they were created

I don't understand why there should be a need to be locked in.

The unions have done this to themselves. And it has happened because of both union mgmt and members. Most of the damage now is done by union mgmt.

I'll snap a few pics of the gates at GBR and you'll see why you cant leave nor why you would want to leave.

That's BS, put national guard at the gate and start busting heads when anyone gets out of line.

And understand its not only a strike, but also a lockout. Imagine 1500 workers not getting paid and being locked out of their work place. Also imagine having to be part of a union whether you choose to or not. Now imagine being a salaried employee crossing the picket lines and being viewed as the person who is taking their job.

Exactly.

I know why they are being locked in.

What I don't understand is why it is allowed to go down like that.

Bet most of these guys bitch about Ferguson protestors blocking interstates too.

Life is about choices and some you must live with whether you like it or not. When you play high stakes there are only two outcomes, big winners and big losers.

From my understanding it's due to safety concerns with crossing picket lines. Also they're probably gonna need everyone left to be available at the drop of a pin

If I refuse to go to work, I will be fired.

I will also be arrested if I accost the other people who are working there.

So why are they allowed to do this and why is it supported by Unions?

The union members are asking for these things because the leadership tells them they deserve it and can get it. If you talked to any of those guys before the union mgmt got to them they would take a 3% raise and more typical insurance and OT rates.

Now we can argue about the union membership being weak minded/sheeple.....
