What they did before they made 100k is irrelevant.

I've personally observed it for 3o + years, yes, it's true. I was curious what you disagreed with, seems like nothing.

So usually if something breaks it is due to the operators ignorance?

I can't speak for every site, but this is laughable in my experience. Usually neglecting/delaying maintenance or operating outside of parameters plays a larger part. Not discounting human error being the root cause many times.

I'm speaking more to your description of the union worker.

I admit it is the fault of a braggart workforce that only tries to accentuate the positive parts of their field and deny there is a shitty negative that goes with it.

Well, considering the fact that many do brag about it, in detail, very openly, and some are caught on camera literally committing the acts, one can surely understand the "bad taste" it leaves when the company can do nothing about it because their jobs are protected by the union.

If it is operator ignorance than that operator is a lazy pos and should be flipping burgers.

Agree, but large unions are trying to remain relevant so as to sustain their huge profits by placing exceptionally ludicrous demands on companies such as not being able to hire contract workers to replace union workers when they retire or leave, regardless of whom is most qualified for the positions. This has zero to do with attempting to promote seniority, and everything to do with keeping the union in existence to maintain its profits.

Unions are a big business. I personally know some of the union leadership for various unions here in this state and they are a caricature of the stereotype. Their job is to make the union valuable and personally benefit.

Again, I am not saying operations is perfect or never to blame. I am not saying there aren't bad apples.

Painting a broad stroke for hourly scum really shows how out of touch some people are.

same said for a non-union employee.

Except the non-union employee can be terminated.

The company can and does do things about it. I have seen it first hand.

It isn't an easy process, but that is why the company has such a strict hiring policy. They love contract labor so they can dispose of an employee after a small mistake, in few ways is it cheaper.

A safety frickup is the vast majority of disciplinary issues and being in a union does little to protect an employee from that.

So, flipping burgers made you $8.00 an hour. You hire somewhere else, train, and should still be making $8.00/hr?

Are gas prices still dropping? That's all I care about. Cheap fuel is great.

Since you tagged along on him with nothing to add, except earlier when you said that this country would fall apart without your union, which is hilarious. Sorry, if that was someone else that said it. But, ftr, which part of your job couldn't be taught to a 7th grader and done just as good as a union member,, besides sitting too low in an office chair? Why don't both of y'all get out a little more and observe most facilities and the union personnel and their "total team concept", you'd be shocked,,, and hopefully sickened. I'm sure that y'all's facility isn't like that, though.....
I'm in a union here, it's lunch time, screw everything else. I'm taking my full lunch time and then a nap.

To start with, insurance and pay were being cut in the first two proposals

The people bitching about how much the O/G and plant workers make, and how the union has no business asking for these "high" cost of living raises are the same idiots who are home with their families every night, weekend, and holiday. The people that work in the O/G industry sacrifice a lot, so STFU. Who cares what they are asking for? If its not you, its not your business.

Again, there are bad apples in every bunch. I can't defend shitty workers, union or non-union. Employers have avenues to correct this type of behavior, most of y'all seem inept at knowing those avenues.

I have no clue but i am sure it has crossed the table. The first place a major company looks to cut spending is its workforce and their benefits. The union is what protects and fights for.
