Four of the five losses due to excessive 3pt shots and poor FT shootings!

Against Clemson 1 of 13
Missouri 6 of 22
Texas A&M 7 of 23
Miss St 4 of 23
Missed free throws
Old Dominion 6
Clemson 9
Missouri 10 Mickey 1of 6
Texas A&M 4
Miss St 9 Mickey 3 of 9
Free throw shooting is practice and repetition along with mental toughness...coaching needs to be more involved!!
The three points shots being excessive is just pathetic especially when Mickey, Epps and Malone are shooting! Poor coaching.. Get tough and bench someone as an example that we need to get better quality shots!
Lastly at this point in the season and what we have seen of josh gray who is to blame?? Coach Jones for not letting Patterson or Quarterman run the point and move Gray to the two guard? Or Gray for dribbling and passing like a Harlem Globetrotter because that is how he always played against inferior competition?

Darcy attempted what 1 three? Epps zero and mickey none. Plus who are you going to bench them for? Odo?
Also dumbass when patterson isnt hurt gray has barely played

The team didn't come out to play today and couldn't hit the broadside of a barn - 3s or layups.

Can't create offense
Shoot 3's
Can't make free throws
Probably can't make 3's

It's called coaching and sending a message that a three point shot is not always the best and only shot!
I am also talking about the whole season with those three players shooting a three not just today!
And who gives you the right to call me a dumbass for expressing my point of view and keep your little child remarks to yourself and be an adult if you are one!

Im calling you a dumbass because you want him to put in patterson. Patterson is injured.

You can send a message if you have a bench. Benching any of our top 6 and bringing in anyone else is a disaster more than an ill advised 3.

Read before you overreact. He was saying Quarterman and Patterson should be our pgs. Gray can play off the ball if at all.

Learn to read I never said one time to put in him TODAYS game! I am talking about on a regular basis without anyone being injured!!
Benching can last for a couple of possessions up to what the coach decides! As long as the point is made! My god does everything need to be spelled out for you!!

I truly doubt you knew about patterson since you were complaining about Darcy taking 3s which he has taken a grand total of 2 all year and Mickey who has taken a grand total of 3 in SEC play and 1 in the past 5 games. Epps has barely played much less chucked up 3s.

OMG are you serious! I have been an LSU fan for over 30 years! Yes I knew about Patterson and the reason I said those players shouldn't shoot three pointers are for the reasons why stats don't lie!
Whatever I am not going to have a bitchfest with someone who can't let someone view their opinion and act like a child when I am referring to the season as a whole and not just today's game. Just amazes me how tough people think they are behind a keyboard and have to have the last word like a woman on her cycle! Have a great rest of the day Adam Banks!!!!

All I know is that Quarterman missed a wide-open, standing-under-the-basket-with-no-one-around him layup with a bit more than 2 minutes that would have put LSU up by 3. Instead, MSU hurries down the court for a layup and then gets the ball right back for a score to put them up by 3. If Quarterman--who is a really fine player--hits the layup we are in very good shape. Instead, we are in catch-up model the rest of the game.

I commented on our free throw shooting after the a&m game and was criticized. I don't understand why you guys get so emotional over this team. They are playing a bunch of weak conference teams, and either barely winning, or losing. This team has a large number of flaws and weaknesses. They are no way a solid ncaa trny team. They might can make a decent run in the NIT trny, IF they start playing more consistently. State is a poor team, period. But, so were several of the conference teams they have played. The SEC has 1 good team in it...period.

I thought Patterson would return--not sure how severe the concussion was. Never thought not having him would be so costly, but I think the team would have stood a bit better chance to beat a mediocre Mississippi State team with him.
Regardless, State shot many more free throws, as they surely got some home cooking from the refs. But LSU missed so many free throws and lay-ups that probably didn't deserve to win.

I made a comment a few games ago about the dismal ft shooting, & I was dumped on for not watching enough games.

Just a quick addition....does anyone else think the guys should practice their passing? Last few games it seems like the passes were not real crisp, from anyone.

I would agree especially the inbounds passes. Why not throw it in to Martin instead of using him as the primary inbounder??

Unfortunately it comes along with a message board!

While both free throw and 3 pt % played a part in today's loss you can't ignore the other glaring issues from today's game. If either TQ or JM come to play we win the game. That's even with poor shooting from 3 pt and the FT line. Not to mention apparently CJJ can't coach this team up on how to attack a zone and doesn't have a single SLOB or BLOB play in his arsenal.

There was a great passing station at Dixie Basketball Camp back in the day, they may still teach it the same way.
We should work that station every practice and if we are we should double the time spent on it. The total lack of understanding of fundamental passing by our players is astonishing and is killing us.
