The NFL wasn't popular or a money making machine in 2005? Television has driven the revenue.

Look at the contracts the new Big East signed in 2013. $62 million a year from Fox, CBS, and ESPN. That is just 1 conference.

You are an idiot if you think the NFL is "making" money because of Goodell. It makes money in spite of Goodell. The NFL is an avalanche going downhill. It's a $$ venture despite all his many F ups. Hell, tell me ONE invention that has occurred under Goodell.

Other than Bountygate and the Ray rice issue, what has he done that could really be considered bad? The on field product and rules would have changed regardless of who was commissioner.

Addressing concussion issue, inconsistency in discipline, deteriorating relationship with the NFLPA. Just the tip of the iceberg.

Very poor, like a 2 out of 10. He deserves no credit for revenues, that was trending up under PT.

I still don't understand the illegal contact and defensive holding emphasis. That has nothing to do with player safety and has resulted in every 3rd down incompletion becoming a "hold your breath and check for a flag while the WR throws a temper tantrum" event. Above anything, that cooled me on the product more than the stupid drama.

It is quite easy to understand when you realize the NFL is turning into WWE. "Illegal Contact" is akin to the wrestler that comes in off the stage in the middle of the match with the steel chair and wallops the guy who is "winning" at the time, while the ref plays dumb.

Couple that with the promoting of antics like smack talk and crotch grabbing (only certain WWNFL teams can get away with) and you have a product that is becoming all about "drama".

I honestly give Goodell a 10 here. The NFL is making tons of money because the game is going the route of WWNFL. Kudos to him! Only issue I have is the idiocracy approach to a great sport.

Like I've said before, the dumber I feel watching, the more I will just tune out and hope my fantasy teams win me $$$. The NFL is becoming a joke quickly, but money talks.

I'm a Saints fan, so - Infinity.

The guy's a dick! What's the timeline on his replacement?

I'd give him a 1.

No rhyme or reason to his disciplinary actions. His "player safety" rules are making the game more dangerous by forcing low hits--might be less likely to cause a concussion but a major leg/knee injury can cause a player a lifetime fight with obesity and the resulting health problems.

Can't think of anything good he's done.

7.

Besides maybe the severity of bounty gate punishments, I really think he has done what any other commissioner would have to do in his position. Blame the idiots who are biting the hand that used to feed them.

“Hey, even the worst bartender at Spring Break does pretty well,” Winston said, via Tom Curran of CSNNE. “Think about it, a 2-year-old could [be NFL Commissioner] and still make money.”
