Ok, is this the one who does catering? I've heard really great things about their catering.
I don't think I've seen it referenced on this board, but would be happy to give them a shot. Anyone tried Saffron yet?

Fad, somewhat, I guess.
In Madrid, it was all the rage about ten, twelve years ago.
Nobody seems to get worked up about it anymore.
There is GREAT variety, and some very interesting stuff.

India has over a billion people from regions that have little in common. So the variety of foods is huge, and the particular seasonings for dishes can be quite diverse. No single restaurant can possibly have a menu containing much more than a small sample of the spectrum of Indian cuisine. The samples available at Indian restaurants in the U.S. may not be the same from one to the next, and diners may be put off by the lack of common items or regional differences in seasoning for the same dishes.
My personal experiences have been hit or miss with Indian restaurants. The meals have either been memorably good or bad, not much in between. When I say bad, it doesn't necessarily mean the food was bad. It simply means I personally didn't enjoy it. Maybe I just ordered the wrong dishes.

Both of these are really easy to cook, btw. I cook Indian pretty often and do a passable job.
Here in Fayetteville, we have like 20 thai restaurants and not a single Indian restaurant despite people constantly clamoring for one. Bentonville, on the other hand, has like 4 Indian restaurants (because of the large Indian vendor/wal-mart community).

I'm not in Athens anymore. I live on the coast. When I did live in Athens, I did live above an Indian restaurant but I didn't go very often because it was awful awful service. And it was the only Indian restaurant in Athens. Which is weird because by far and away, the largest minority on campus was Indian, followed by Chinese.

I LOVE Indian food, wish there was more of it around. Like someone mentioned, BR seems to be obsessed with Greek/Lebanese food as opposed to Indian.
I dig both.
I dig both.

Bayleaf...I love it.

I need to start doing picture threads to make some actual decent Indian food. It makes me cringe to think people actually enjoy Bayleaf...and the owners are great family friends.

Bay leaf really is good. Lots of flavor and they actually have a variety on the menu. Buffet is limited obviously.

It isn't like there is a huge Indian population in br and many Indian places to eat here. So we take what we can get
Cool. Gonna try it soon!
I'm surprised Indian isn't more popular, as well. Spicy proteins and flavorful sauces over rice with bread (naan) and vegetables sides is something most people in the south would identify with imo
A lot of people are just picky and scared and unwillingly to try anything not fried and covered with ketchup or served on a bun. Sucks for them

I understand. Anyways, I will post some pictures and recipes for different stuff my mom cooks. You all enjoy cooking as far as I can tell and after cooking and trying these recipes, you will never set foot in an Indian restaurant. My mom is actually cooking some butter chicken for Ruzil next week (as of now) so that may be the first I post.

I would legit pay money for a detailed authentic butter chicken recipe. Might be my favorite food on the planet.
