You want to factor in all Cannon's defensive snaps?

Cannon
Remember he was platooned (White, Go Team and Chinese Bandits) and only in for about 1/3 oƒ snaps and played defense.

From purely a talent standpoint Cecil Collins may be the most gifted RB I have ever seen in my life. When I would get news of his downfall I hurt so bad. He was so special and such a waste.

Most talent: Collins.
Best Player: Faulk, Hilliard, Hill
Fournette has played one season. I think he can be about like Hill
CG - You nailed it!!!
Although I think you might be able to put Hill in the most talented category also. Collins was a beast but just not a big enough stat set to see what would have happened given more wear and tear on his body.

It's not even close...Kevin Faulk!

Kevin Faulk and Dalton Hilliard were incredible athletes and gifted runners. Their ranks and names will stay forever in Tiger lore - especially with anyone w NFL potential bolting at the first chance to leave. Would have liked to have seen Cecil Collins play more snaps. He was a beast! Decent question - nice thread!

Dominick Davis and Labrandon Toefield are always so underrated when it comes to these lists. Toefield set the single season rushing TD record I believe.
Those guys could match up with the likes of Hill and Fournette any day.

Stats are great and all, but the Diesel was the most absurd talent I ever witnessed first hand
Hilliard was the most fun to watch.

Hill.
Under any other system he would have doubled his output. His breakout year we had Mett and 2 stud receivers getting more touches than normal.

Give me Kevin Faulk from this list. But, Fournette's numbers look impressive for a freshman. Will only get better. Cecil didn't play long enough to be best ever.

Dalton....did it all. Ran for power, ran with elusiveness, best blocking HB ever, and caught the ball out of the backfield as well as anyone save maybe Faulk.

Stovall and Van Buren are not even on your list

It comes down to this by any objective standard, it's Faulk (although Cannon is close because he played both ways and won the Heisman). If there were a separate "Heisman"-type annual award for all purpose yards, Faulk might have won it twice.
Faulk garnered 6,833 all purpose yards - including over 5,000 on the ground. He scored 46 touchdowns on the ground, 4 receiving, 1 kickoff and 2 punt returns for a total of 53 (318 points). He had 22 (TWENTY-TWO!) 100-yard games, 4 200-yard games, and 3 1000-yard seasons.
And against Houston, it was essentially Kevin Faulk against an entire mid-major football team. He scored 3 of the 5 touchdowns in a 35-34 squeaker in the home opener against "rent-a-win" Houston. No LSU player has had as good a game as Faulk did that night (Josh Reed was close against the Tide).

Seven or eight game seasons versus 13 game seasons pretty much exposes most 10 win seasons in the ''history of the program.''
Cannon.

Agree.
Faulk was an absolute animal. He had so much agility, awareness and power. He could catch like a receiver and return punts with the best. All around best RB LSU has ever had.
Collins unfortunately can't be in the conversation.
We have been fortunate to have so many talented RBs. When you look at the names being mentioned it's almost unbelievable. So hard to settle on one but I'll go down with Faulk in my book.

Alexander the Great was awesome, but Dalton was a really special player.

My choice is Jeremy Hill fwiw although a lot of you wont agree.
You can dig through my history but I said when he came back from suspension he would be the best back LSU ever sends to the NFL.
Behind him my fave rb was Addai
