Listened to the Zach Lowe one this morning and JVG does not like our roster. I'd love to get more specifics out of him on the roster construction than the obvious lack of depth.

I actually fairly like our roster

The main problems are:

How Jrue/Tyreke/EG "fit",but the tyreke off the bench/Jrue+EG in the lineup worked well until jrue went down.

Lack of a backup PG - I honestly think it's our biggest problem right now,a guy like mo williams or CJ watson would solidify this team a lot.

Back up C looks pretty good with ajinca and the 3 while not amazing is worlds better than earlier in the year.

Ryno is a problem right now too

Seth really didn't want to call Monty out

So ideal build is AD at 4, get a more balanced center (as if those are easy to come by), a PnR Ball Handler (Tyreke is not ideal but close enough), and 2 wing shooters.

Why do we need a PG? Either Jrue or Reke should be running the offense for all 48.

If we dump one of those two, then yes, we need a PG.

ETA: I'd be fine with no Jrue in two years, re-signing Reke and then spending some decent money on a back-up PG. But only if you give me a real coach first. If Monty stays, then you have to let both walk and get a new PG.

I have to think that if Gordon is healthy we mainly need a better coach and a reliable starting caliber 3 and D wing.

Neither guy likes the roster that much. Didn't Lowe say they would have about 15 wins right now without Davis? I think Evans's game, and the reliance of it, is a problem for both. Partnow mentioned it some too- he has skills, but defense and decision making are huge roadblocks for him.

I did love their discussion on Korver and the idea of ball stoppers. Pels, by luck or design, are littered with ball stoppers.

Not even a balanced center, just one who is a more credible threat around the rim. We saw it v the Mavs with Davis making great passes to Asik. A guy that can dive/finish like a Plumlee will bring great value to the offense. The Clippers comp was a great one- they leverage Griffin's outstanding ball skills during Jordan PnRs all the time.

It was interesting hearing Partnow's thoughts on Holiday. I was more in line with Partnow before this season, but I thought Holiday had been better this year. IMO, still has some holes as a lead ball handler, but not average either.

Very polite indeed.

Brooks is better than Monty, but not by much. Partnow spent 2 hours defending Brooks on a pod last week, but is willing to toss Monty over. Yikes for Monty.

Partnow isn't a fan of either one. Both have some clear weaknesses in terms of running an offense. IMO, Holiday is a secondary ball handler miscast as lead dog and Evans is always a wild card.

Partnow thinks Holiday is league average at pg, which was surprising. That and Simmons calling him Darren Collison with better defense and a better agent is interesting to me.

I'd be interested to see what a different system would do to these guys. They both love to pound the ball, which is what Monty's offense requires. Would they be willing to play a style that involves more passing? This was always the question with the 3 guards from the beginning.
