I see potential in a few players and would agree that Caldwell may have the group that she really wants to go forward. Bethel and Deemer are looking better and better in different ways....Deemer offensively and Bethel defensively. Several times last night I felt like Bethel's length and athleticism made their full court press very successful. And of course if Deemer can keep her confidence hitting the long ball, we can certainly present better opportunities for our young inside play to eventually develop for more balanced scoring on half court offense. I'm hoping there is a mad genius lurking in Caldwell that will reveal itself over the next few years....and I really, really hate to say "next year," but man...wow about next year....

There's definitely lots of potential in the style of play that we are able to play now. Last year, as much as I loved our seniors, they were all challenged athletically (McKinney, Plaisance, Kenney). So, even though we were big........and that presented problems for teams going against our offense.........it also presented problems for us on the defensive end. I think about how slow our posts looked last year during BOTH games against Louisville. Our guards could hold their own but, their smaller, quicker posts killed Plaisance and McKinney on the interior. This is also why I think losing Kalani Brown doesn't hurt as much as many may have thought. Even though she's a big girl at 6'5" she's not an athletic 6'5" like Sylvia Fowles was coming out of high school.

I think Nikki would prefer more athletic posts to run her system than the big, slow moving oafs. We do have Ayanna Mitchell coming in next year and, although she's not huge (6'2") she is an athletic post player. I think that's what we're going to see in the future in this program. I still think Nikki will try to get a JUCO post player in the offseason though. Here's some footage of Mitchell..............

Granted it's an edited video, but she looks strong and fundamentally sound for a high school player. I like having more athletic posts. It's difficult to order up athleticism and height in a post player these days. Quick, strong, and agile around 6'2" is a good replacement for size. And I agree that losing Kalani doesn't hurt us in the least.

I am curious who we are going to hire this offseason. I hope Rhodes can develop more. Amichia has a lot of work to do this off season, but one offseason can do wonders for a player. Caldwell does have the players she wants to run her system, although she desperately needs a true athletic post player. Better post play will do wonders for us.

Additionally, this team's defense is LIGHT YEARS better than it was at the beginning of the season.

I saw on the news this morning that LSU had 22 steals in that game... that's fricking amazing!

I agree...but how in the hell do you explain her signing "Tank" Youngblood? That had disaster written all over it from the beginning, even if Tank had stayed out of trouble. She was never going to fit here.

I think she signed Youngblood for two reasons...............

1. She was a Louisiana kid and she wanted to show that she's willing to recruit in-state talent. She also got Coco Baker in that class too..................both of whom have subsequently been kicked off the team.

2. We needed a post player in that class.

I don't think you'll see Nikki recruit a player like Youngblood ever again, in my opinion. It was an experiment that didn't work out and now they're moving on.

This lady tiger team is so fun to watch with Ballard. Hopefully we can get Ballard 2.0 in Kechell Figueroa for 2016-2016. Kalani Brown does not fit Nikki Caldwell style of play, unless she does a big 360 at Baylor I don't see her doing much other then being a big body on the floor. Another Baylor signee Beatrice Mompremier is way more athletic then her, she should of sign with LSU.I would love for coach Caldwell to play Jasmine Rhodes more she seem more focus then Rina Hill on the floor. Why is Ann Jones and Fareo on this team?? I'm sorry but they SUCK!!

I want to see more Rhodes as well. Rina Hill is solid defensively but I think some of her minutes should go to Deemer and Rhodes more

I love the way that Rhodes appears to be progressing. Deemer is a freshman and was still apprehensive on the court at times. Last night was the first game I remember seeing her actually be aggressive aside from just looking for the 3 pt shot. I also like how Hill's game is evolving. She's a better offensive player than she shows but, her defense and ball security have gotten much better over the course of this season.
