Deer eat birds?!?

That is strange

I remember seeing this on some nature show years ago. Apparently it tends to happen in areas where these animals are deprived of necessary minerals so that's how they supplement it.

I remember seeing a deer eat a bird in an old natuere film.
There is a recent PBS show "The Secret Lives of Deer" I think. They said that it happens, but did not show it.

As mentioned before it is for minerals. They do this mostly for calcium. Red Deer in Scotland do this all the time. They kill a certain species of seabird chick and chew on them.
