Where I live it's either Cox or AT&T Uverse. So, Cox.

Charter. 60mbps down. Actually a rock solid connection, always exceede my advertised down bandwidth. Upload is usually around 6mbps. Low latency and jitter. I'm still within my first year so I'm paying $30/month.

Virgin Media
100 down fiber for around 30 pounds a month so about 45 bucks

we have almost no choice in my area. Xfinity (Comcast) seems to have the fastest speeds. I have had horrible customer service when Time Warner was the cable ISP provider 20 years and swore to never do business with them again. I did give Comcast a chance when they came in. They wanted to charge me 500.00 to run a co-axial line to my house.
U-Verse is available all around me except for 3 streets in my neighborhood. So it isn't a real option.
DSL is my only real option because I live in what is basically a 3rd word city. I am currently with AT&T but opened the account when it was Bell South. Even at slower download speeds, (5-6 Mbs) my home network seems to handle the 4 phones, 2 TV's, 5 tablets, wife traffic without much of a problem. But we do have connection issues from time that AT&T blames the modem one time, the lines the next, and even me the customer.
So basically I am in some type of bundle with DirecTv, AT&T phone service, & AT&T wireless. I have been doing some research to see what I could do to improve. But there simply doesn't seem to be any options.
I have not checked out Hughs in several years. But they were not competitive at all last time. Seemed like a service best suited for places without phone lines.
I get real envious when I read what Chattanooga did by creating a public utility for internet connection. Citizens in Chattanooga basically get 1 Gig of download speed and basically a city wide wifi area for $70.00 a month. That is 94 MBpS faster than my ISP can provide for the same money.
This is one of the few times private business doesn't seem to be able to even try to compete.
