Dumb question about AOL mail

Yes that's right, I said AOL mail. My dad still uses it (don't ask, he's a moron and I've been trying to get him to switch for YEARS) and he's finally switching to Gmail. Anyhow I'm trying to set up forwarding from AOL to His new gmail account and for the life of me can't find the setting for it.
Nobody may know cause really, who uses this ancient shite, but surely they have a forwarding option right?

I do t know about forwarding, but alternately you could set up his gmail to fetch any aol emails.

Go to "Settings" then "accounts and import"

Yeah, and you might want to set a filter to catch messages sent to the aol address and automatically respond informing the sender of the new gmail address.

I want to thank you for starting this thread. I still use my aol address as my main email contact because I've had it for over twenty years. I do get kidded a lot about it but is there any reason other than that to suggest I change?

I still have an AOL account.
I send all my spam there
I send all my spam there

Well the main reason I wanted my dad to chain is for some reason they won't let him send any attachments that are of much size regardless
Quite ridiculous In this day and age. And I think Google's format is better

You're doing God's work.

Just a few reasons gmail beats AOL mail:
1. Labels absolutely beat the living shite out of folders, especially when combined with gmail's very powerful filtering system.
2. The powerful filtering system. I have tons of filters set up for emails that I will probably need, but I want to read them when I want to, not when they come in. So they skip the inbox, get labeled appropriately, and sit there waiting for me rather than being a distraction and cluttering the inbox.
3. Ads are less intrusive
4. Apparently, AOL limits you to 1000 messages in your inbox, 4000 old messages and 4000 sent messages. I delete worthless emails, but anything that I might ever need again, I just archive (like aol's old messages). I currently have almost 14k messages in my gmail account, and with google's search powering it I always find what I want quickly.
5. Gmail puts handy buttons on messages right in the inbox view for things like orders or tracking packages.
I guess I would summarize the difference like this: if you just read and write email, you can stick with aol... if you want to do email in a better way, switch to gmail.

And thanks to Chicken for the Tech board.
This sure isn't the O-T.
