Went to Europe several years ago and if I had to go back to one place that I visited, it'd be the Vatican City. Absolutely breathtaking experience seeing the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica in person.

London and Florence were great times as well. I'd like to go back to London because I didn't get to experience everything I wanted to. I was very underwhelmed by Paris. It's dirty and Parisians are assholes. Outside of The Louvre, it's nothing special.

going here in May/ June any tips?

I just know someone who went a couple months ago. Said it was a beautiful country. Everyone seems to be high on Croatia right now.

She went to Split and Dubrovnik. Said it was excellent.

Don't skip Greece / Greek Islands. Hit Athens for a couple of days and then hit up an island or two out in the Cyclades.

Avoid Dubrovnik like the plague during cruise season. Zagreb is pretty much a shithole. Split is cool. Hvar was awesome.

ETA - would highly recommend Slovenia. Ljubljana is a beautiful city. Lake Bled in the Julian Alps is amazing and so is the Soca valley.

If you're going to go all the way down to Croatia you should go:

Prague -> Vienna -> Budapest -> Bucharest -> Istanbul

I was part of a group and we went on a 10 day tour of London, Paris, Florence and Rome. I'll go see if I can go find the name of the touring service we went through. They did a great job.

Get a good travel agent unless you are a travel pro. Trying to plan a 2 week Europe trip on our own was incredibly overwhelming.

Agreed.

I'd also suggest Prague

Exactly. We needed someone to help narrow us down. You can't do everything but you can do a lot. We needed that guidance.

We are glad we did it. She messed up a few things but reimbursed us so make sure you find someone who specializes in Europe. We could have saved a lot of money if we did airbnb/vrbo instead of hotels. If I'd do it again, I'd get her to plan the planes, trains, tours and day to day plans. Then I'd book airbnbs to save money. I have heard that hotels are better deals right now. At least compared to where they have been.

London, Paris and Rome might be the 3 most overrated cities in Europe. No thanks to each.

You and everyone else these days:

Avoid cruise season or just do one day in Dubrovnik and the rest in Split, Hvar and Neum (Bosnia)

If you have such a rigid plan, you'll never fully enjoy the places you go. It is best to pick a few key things you'd like to do and then let other things fall into place as they come. Having someone else plan every aspect of your vacation sounds absolutely horrible to me. At that point you are just tagging along on someone else's vacation when you really think about it.

Spend some time and plan it yourself. I've done it numerous times and it isn't that bad.

It wasn't like every minute was planned. We had plenty "free days" but she would provide recommended activities. It was nice knowing what all could be fit into one day.

Also, the tours that she booked for us were tours that we wanted to go on. She just found a reputable company.

We flew into Amsterdam (stayed at the Bulldog) to start. Then traveled on to Munich (Wombat), Interlaken (Balmers), Milan, Florence (University Hostel), Rome (Pop In Hostel), Nice and finished in Barcelona.

I would skip Milan and Nice if we did it over, had a blast in every other city.

It all depends on what you are interested in.
Is churches and ruins your thing?
Romance with your special lady?
Getting blitzed out your mind and hooking up with Eurochicks?
Museums?
Night clubs?
Eating?
Outdoor sports?
Street Festivals?
Soccer matches?
