Whether it's one type of animal or another, New Orleans residents can't win. This time, in Gert town.

Woof Woof

quote:

A pit bull savagely attacked a 9-year-old girl in the Gert Town neighborhood.

Before Saturday, a group of friends who like to play cards outdoors near Bloomingdale Court had never met 9-year-old Tatiana Walters. But Saturday afternoon, they heard blood-curdling screams.

Tatiana recalls, “It started chasing me. It was very fast and I got back down and it started biting me all over.”

Tatiana was being attacked by a neighbor's pit bull.

“I said, 'that dog got that child,' and I come down - all of us run down here,” said one of the men playing cards.

The group threw bricks and even a two-by-four at the dog until finally it released its grip on Tatiana's face.

Dog owner needs to serve some jail time - irresponsible dog owners suck.

I hate it when dogs don't take responsibility for their actions.

They threw bricks and 2x4s at it while it was attacking her?

The nature and temperament of a particular breed are important. Some dogs are generally more alpha or aggressive, whether it be towards people or other dogs/animals. This cannot be disputed.

However, we have to keep in mind that these dogs are not wild animals. Their temperaments can be controlled. They can be trained. They are not wolves. They are domesticated animals.

People need to realize that they have to be the right type of person for the dog. Buying a dog because you want to be a thug or buying a dog because you like the way it looks is not being a responsible owner.
