I think binge-watching not-so-serious shows is OK. Also - There are a few shows out there that didn't really round into form until S2 and I may or may not have continued watching them.

No way in hell would I have enjoyed Fringe or BSG the same way had I initially binge-watched. Glad I saw those as they occurred.

For the Game of Thrones books, I :binge" read them all 5 straight through and liked it a lot. However, my friends who had been reading since the mid-90's and were forced to wait years for 5 to come out seem still pissed to this day to the point that they hate books 4 and 5.

It really seems like it impacted people's experience of those books.

Why would I want to have to wait weeks to watch a show? Plus no commercials if its on netflix or hbogo.

Yes and no. Depends on the show.

Pretty much. Also, it depends on your definition of binge watching.

I binged Breaking Bad and just finished binge watching Sons of Anarchy. It didnt ruin the experience for me but the only negative is that the material is so dark it can kinda bring you down sometimes. Starting a binge watch of The Wire now and I imagine it will be a similar experience

The show is the definition of bleak. Good luck.

I think with shows like comedies it helps you warm up to a new series.

Sometimes I've been turned off by a pilot, but decided to keep going. Three or four episodes in I get hooked. Never have I had this happen without binge watching.
