Has anyone here ever run for public office or held a public office position?
How about just thought about it?
I'm not quite old enough to do so yet, but maybe one day I will.

I was just told last night by a gentleman of the US House that so far I have "made all the right moves". Now I know I don't have a chance at a position like that, but it got me thinking.
I have done lots of volunteer work in both areas of the country I have lived in, I know a lot of community leaders and powerful people all over the country, etc.
A curious thing to think about, especially since none of that has ever been done for the purpose of running for office in the future.

I've thought about doing it as a lark, but not really as running as a serious candidate. More of a "DJ Davis, He Won't Save Us" campaign for you "Treme" fans.

Ran for commission in the last primary. By far, the most qualified, but too young and lost to the guy who had been foreman for the past 8 years.......because no one "knew me". Lost by 400 votes.

When you are young you either can't win or you have to spend 50% more on a campaign than the people you are running against.

I would rather be a Community Organizer. More money, more women, and you can get away with a bunch of illegal activities easier.
