cerakoted my 300 Blackout *pic heavy*

i've been itching to redo my sub-par cerakote job on my 300blk. here is the journey.
what it looked like before. the texture on the upper was similar to rhino liner the receivers were done in Patriot Brown
disassemble all that time and money and throw it in a cardboard box
i decided to ditch the Daniel Defense 7" rail and go with a 12" Seekins BAR that covers the suppressor since i only shoot this gun suppressed.
after blasting the cerakote off the receivers, and the factory finish on the seekins rail
propane smoker works much better than my lil ole toaster oven
gas out phase
laying on the bottom coat - Desert Sand
then its into the oven for 15 minutes to "flash" the bottom coat. this dries the paint to the touch although it is not fully cured. this allows you to add multiple layers or stencils.
a much better result than before
now i add some gradients of Magpul Flat Dark Earth
this is after another 15 minute flash in the oven
applying Kryptek stencil to it all
no pic of the coats after the stencil
but basically use FDE where the Sand layer was and Sand where the FDE was. doesn't have to be perfect. and then i sprayed a couple of areas in Patriot Brown.
spend 45 minutes tediously removing the stencil in 1/4" increments
voila
and after reassembly

I'm still trying to get the courage to pain the Nightforce. But the finish on my SDN-6 is wearing surprisingly quick so it may come sooner than later

no doubt. i'm kind of a do it yourself kind of guy and kind of enjoy the process although it can be tedious at times.

I like the black on tan look of it...
Great looking rifle
ETA: Start to finish, how many hours you think from deassembly to reassembly with new cerakote?

Love the Kryptek! Crap is expensive though...
