Erosion Eels and check dams are pretty much the same damn thing, correct? Also for those who have installed, where around BR is best place to buy the materials? is it stuff that would be pulled off the shelf or would it have to be ordered? if ordered I just get it off the interwebs.

Thanks in advance to anyone who will help.

Check dams can be different types of things. It can be rock, straw wattles, straw bales, etc. Stormwater Management Plans, inspections, and record keeping are huge up here in CO. Any construction site requires them, even oil & gas road and wellpad construction. If you can't find a local vendor, ordering online is fine.

As for your question about installing and maintaining, I'm sure there's best management practices manuals somewhere out there that show how to best install BMPs. We have our own manual for our construction contractors and their heavy machinery operators. Poor installation or going cheap up front can lead to higher maintenance cost in the long run, so remember to do BMPs right the first time for a little bit more $$. The last thing you want is to have all your cheap BMPs blown out by a heavy rain event and you have to do it all over again with better and more expensive stuff.

Let me know where your site is so I can report you. I've never seen a swppp properly implemented in BR, and no one cares. Blows my mind how a culture built around water doesn't give a shite about water quality.

They work I've done, we've installed and maintained the swppp ourselves mainly Silt fence, hay, or wattles depending on the application. What type of work do you plan on doing?

Sometimes I see them around construction sites in nola and just have to laugh. It's a complete joke. They are always half assed and not doing a lick of good

They're more for appearance than purpose in most cases
