So, you don't think he is a role model to kids outside of the arena? He may even have a charity or two outside of the arena that he gives money to... I'd say both of those have value..

I'm not saying he's valueless as an individual. I'm saying he is part of the NFL, an entertainment league. He's interviewed in that context.

He could have used his physical abilities to build homes or serve in the military, things that are not entertainment-based. But he didn't. I'm glad he didn't, he's an entertaining athlete.

I didn't think it was the Seahawks that were forcing him to do interviews. The fines come directly from the NFL, correct? It is the NFL policy forcing him to talk, not his team. His team demands he shows up and plays.

His employment with Seattle requires that he do certain things on behalf of the NFL. He's not doing those in the way the NFL probably wants. We'll see how it works out, but I don't think you can say he has no obligation to the NFL, he clearly does.

"The NFL Media Policy mandates that players must be available to the media during the practice week at the team facility and in the locker room following all games. Star players, or other players with unusually heavy media demands, must be available to the media that regularly cover their teams at least once during the practice week in addition to their required postgame media availability."

He wouldn't be sitting there giving BS answers to BS questions if he didn't. I guess I just think its crazy for the league to force players to give interviews. If MS was a third string back and didn't want to talk, we would never hear about it. The NFL only cares about the additoinal money they can make from player interviews.

Who is acting like that? He just found a clever way to skirt the rules and the media members are losing their minds.

I can't understand the lack of respect for what he's doing. He doesn't want to speak to the media for whatever reason, (none of our business), and chooses not to conform. I personally despise the idea that everyone should simply "do what they're told".

How much do you think the mortgage company would respect you if you stopped paying the mortgage? It's a contract. You signed it. Live up to it. Not difficult to do.

He's not flailing at some windmill. He's violating a written agreement. It's part of your job. Otherwise you'd have never signed the contract.

He's not some social justice warrior bro. He's an idiot.

What does the written agreement say? Can you scan the contract, redact the sensitive material, and post it?

No. He owes his team hard work and good performances on Sunday. That is all. If his employer doesn't like how he handles these situations, then they would get rid of him. He owes nothing to anyone but the Seahawks.

No that is his contract with Seattle but he also has a collective bargaining agreement that requires him to participate within guide lines set by the NFL and NFLPA.

The part where he's quoted as saying he's out there to prevent being fined is an obvious admission on his part that dealing with the media is written into his contract.

There's no link needed or special info to have to be privvy to. I'm not mad about it either.

It's just simple dumbassery that folks defend a guy who signs a contract and then decides to choose when and where he will adhere to it and infer others are angry when they point out how stupid he is for pulling a modern day Don Quixote for no reason.

I was saying that he doesn't owe fans anything. I know he has to participate in media crap which is the part I think is BS.

So the NFL/NFLPA requiring one of the best rb's in the league to help promote the game ($$$$) by answering questions as the season goes on and at one of the biggest media events in the world attended by countless outlets and countries is .... bs?

Yes. I think it is. If no one from either team talked this week, do you think ratings would be down?

Never doubted it was in there. Just wanted to know what it said. You said he is violating the written agreement so you seemed like the guy that would know what the written agreement says. Guess not.

People, like myself, find the reaction funny. Media members and TD posters resort to name calling over something that is so incredibly petty that it should just be laughed off.

Check out cheesesteak's last thread. That's who you're dealing with. You're better off letting him play in the mud by himself.

where does the rule say you have to answer questions in a certain way?

He hasn't stopped paying his mortgage. He's simply paying it in pennies.
