Antichrist Superstar was a great 1990s concept album.
That album bugged parents in a way music hadn't done in a long time.

Great, great album. Makes me want to drink every time I listen to it. Just as good if not better than Misplaced Childhood.

Symphony X---Paradise Lost
Kamelot---The Black Halo
Thank You Scientist---The Perils of Time Travel
Mastodan---Leviathan
Rogers Waters---The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking

Repost for a reason. This is an often overlooked gem that picked up quite a following upon release. The band broke up shortly after and released no more material. Here's one of the songs from the album, if you're curious at all:
These Are The Days

Wondering when someone was going to mention it...
Actually, some people say Peter Townsend got the idea for a concept album after The Pretty Things did "S.F. Sorrow". Frank Zappa is credited with first rock concept album- 'Freak Out', but to me, his 'Lumpy Gravy' could be more recognized as one...

Sgt. Pepper's is the most important, but these are my favorites...

And..
Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire)
Yes, of the two Village Green is my favorite album. Arthur is better in terms of being a concept album. It's by far the most cohesive and intelligent concept album I've ever heard, and it does it without beating you over the head with a brick about the "concept" - which I find is the most common problem with self-proclaimed concept albums. But it helps if you're familiar with the broad scope of English history from 1900-1960. I can see how it bombed in the US.
