College basketball is 1 million times more relevant to the rest of the country. Baseball is big...at LSU. It's no where near the level of college basketball. I understand your sentiment, but a lot more people don't watch baseball than basketball.

And I can say this with pretty good certainty, your average sports fan can name more basketball players that ever played at LSU than they can baseball players.

Because they have been more successful? Would you say LSU Track and Field is more relevant than basketball too, since they have won more championships?

College Basketball >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>College Baseball when it comes to popularity.

Plus we have alumni such as Shaq and Pistol Pete.

I like LSU Baseball and all, but this is basketball season.

1 SEC title combined between them.

Eddy Furniss won 2 national championships.

But I do love LSU basketball as well. Why can't you love both sports? There are 20 topics allowed on the first page. Go ahead, start a basketball thread. I might join in.

Both are team sports. One player didn't win or lose anything.

Nobody outside of LSU, some SEC fans, and the few national diehard college baseball historians know who Eddy Furniss is. Not diminishing his greatness at LSU, but infinitely more people know Pistol Pete and Shaq.

No one knows who Eddy Furniss is. Everyone knows who Shaq and Pistol are. That's just the cold hard truth.

No, they don't. He is the most household name for college baseball for sure, but I guarantee you more people nationally could name Big Baby, maybe even Brandon Bass than Skip.

Right, we have had some great players come through the PMAC and Cow Palace. Does Duke see LSU on the schedule and tremble, "Oh no, we play the school where Shaq played 20 years ago." I doubt it. But if Oklahoma gets sent to LSU for a Super Regional I guarantee you they see, "Wow, we have to go play against a program that's won 6 national titles in front of their 10,000 screaming fans while their All-American pitcher throws aspirin tablets at us.

Dude. People knew who Shaq was when he was at LSU. Nobody ever knew who Eddy Furniss was.
