Look no further than the Bengals. They're accused of receiving texts during games, which is just as illegal as the deflating footballs. It was a blip on the radar.

if CLE had deflating footballs and NE had receiving texts, still no one would care about CLE, and everyone would be going nuts about NE's texts.
I disagree completely. Unless in your scenario the texts were about the other teams gameplan that gave an advantage, and the Bengals had been caught cheating before. Then I would agree

i agree with the premise that the Patriots being a national branded team makes this a big story. But what makes it bigger is the fact they were caught cheating before IMHO

What do you think they were texting about, picking up a gallon of milk on the way home?

That's also part of my point.

I said Bengals, but I meant Browns, just noticed.

I think whats making it a big story also is the fact that everyone knows goodell isnt going to do shite because he and kraft are butt buddies and are just waiting to confirm it.

same shite was going down with baltimore and ray rice. they were hoping to let it slide under the table and goodell was doing a favor for his good buddies in baltimore who he called the "model" franchise. luckily the video came out and goodell had egg on his face.

Disagree. I think a lot more people agree with me (no real animosity towards NE in general) than you. In fact, I think NE is probably one of the more popular teams.

The only aspect that makes this specific to NE was NE's previous illegal activity. But, that's reasonable.

You don't think he could do it with some practice? It's not like this was his first rodeo.

I really don't.

PFT: It's easy to quickly deflate a football.
quote:

Gersh Kuntzman of the New York Daily News performed a more organized test, taking 12 balls that had been inflated to 13 PSI and removed two PSI in a total of 40 seconds. Adding in the time necessary to open the bag and to access the balls and to enter and exit the bathroom, the exercise took 77 seconds.
Actual article of guy that attempted to deflate 12 balls in 90 seconds.
quote:

I loaded the dozen fully inflated pigskins into a big IKEA bag and did what I do best: Take my balls into the bathroom to simulate what the Pats assistant possibly did.

My personal DeflateGate took just 40 seconds. Add in a few bobbles and the time it took to get in and out of the bathroom stall, and the entire affair took me just 77 seconds

Honestly, once it hit the stage where we are all arguing about a video showing a guy go into the bathroom for 90 seconds and it's somehow deemed the most possible reason was to deflate footballs, I just don't care anymore. Either you think they did it or you don't. We won't truly know until after the Super Bowl anyways so I'm done with this topic until then.
