I just don't think she should be charged with a felony and would like to be convinced otherwise.

Go buy a puppy, live with it for a few months, then think about drowning it and you will be convinced.

Someone needs to make a list of which animals it is OK to kill and eat. And which animals will land you in prison if you harm.

Hey, I shot this deer yesterday...Awesome! You the man.

Hey, I shot this dog yesterday...frick you! I hope you burn in hell

That was my point. I know it's illegal and I'm not going to jail for it. But animal cruelty upsets me to the point that yes, I would really want to kill people that do it if I didnt have to suffer the consequences.

Understood, but if you feel that passionate about animal cruelty, then you can understand the worldview of people like me who think its ridiculous that this is a felony but if she would have killed her unborn child it would have been fine.

That's my worldview on this matter.

Since it was still a puppy, she should have gone home, locked it in a cage where it couldnt move for a month, then killed and ate it. You know, like Veal

The analogy is perfect. We allow people to take baby cows and lock them in a cage for months in order to limit their movement. That is complete torture.

I'm in the "this lady should pay some kind of penalty" camp, because that was cruel, but to the people saying she should die...come on.

A pet implies a personal connection, friendship, love, whatever other emotion you want to assign to it. It's different than Billy Bob Butthole's pasture cow that he intends to eat at some point.
