Any idea on who will play the beast? I feel like taht role is far more important than Belle. Gaston as well.

After seeing Into the Woods, Chris Pine would be perfect as Gaston. Probably won't happen because of the quick turn around.

She has the look. It would be hard for her pull off the end of the movie, when The Beast becomes a likeable character.

This brings up a good point. How will they do this part? In the movie, there is not really much interaction with this man. It's like a totally different person.

So is this a direct live action adaptation of the animated musical?

I believe so. Much like what Disney is doing with Cinderella

Then consider me excited. Beauty and the Beast was the first animated film I ever saw in theaters. This board doesn't reflect it, but there are a lot of people excited that Emma Watson has been cast in this role.

She will be great. People underestimate the ability of filmmakers to mold actors. Look at Jennifer Lawrence. She switches from grown adult to adolescent teen every other movie. Hermoine Granger was not supposed to be smoking hot. Emma Watson got too hot for the role. And unfortunately, the opposite can be said for Ginny Weasley.

They will make her look gorgeous. I have no doubts.

I wonder if they will include the domestic violence from the first one, or just make the beast sort of a snarky a-hole instead.

Jessica Biel would be a great choice.

Except she can't act worth a shite.

Jessica Biel and Anne Hathaway are also both too old for the part. Both actresses are 32. The actress playing Belle should be in her early or mid-twenties.

Yeah, but that stupid song from Hunger Games shouldn't be as popular as it is....

Emma is gonna have to sing a lot more than that cheesy song and she isn't exactly known for her pipes. Unless they plan to stray away from the singing part for the movie.

I don't think they would cast someone who couldn't carry a tune. While people know who Emma Watson is, she's not exactly a box office draw. People won't go see this movie if she can't sing the songs.

Not to mention the overall theme of statutory rape as Belle is supposed to only be 16 or 17 and the beast needs true love before his 21st birthday.

Or, they can go the way Hollywood is going now and cast Belle with a young black actress.
