For some reason I just don't think Brossette will be a huge loss. He is a solid running back, but he isn't some elite talent.

WTF? Brossette is the Louisiana career yardage leader at 8703 yds, breaking Hillard's record and beating Cecil Collins by 871 yds.

How is that not elite?

Brossette is a stud and we'd be lucky to have him.

Well for one, he played weak competition in 2A. Secondly, mounting up monster yards over a lengthy career in 2A playing Episcopal High School doesn't necessarily mean someone is elite. Do you think Kenny Hilliard is an elite RB?

You truly think Brossette is an elite RB? I think there are 2, maybe 3 kids a year that can claim that.

I have said repeatedly in this thread that the kid is a good RB and would like to have him at LSU. We just aren't going to be hurt if he flips, especially to a Big 12 team. We get good/great RBs every year and we'd be fine for 2 years with LF, DW, and Guice.

I'm not sure why you people keep freaking out that I said this, its not some outlandish opinion

ETA:

Germaine Williams is 3rd on that list ahead of Cecil Collins and he 563 yards and 6 TDs in 4 years at LSU. Point being, that doesn't make someone an elite prospect. Good? Yes, probably.

ETA2:

And I hope he does well and at LSU because he seems like a great kid and a good RB.

Actually, I do think Hilliard is an elite RB. He is a power back, not necessarily a cutter, but I think he will excel in the pros. Power backs seem to do better in the NFL than in college. More one-on-one rather than gang tackling. Easier to break tackles.

And Brossette is very much a power back.

Kenny Hilliard is not an elite RB. Period.

He is a good contributor at LSU.

Elite RBs are guys like Melvin Gordon, Todd Gurley, Elliott, Chubb, and LF.

Yeah, ESPN had a game (Redemptorist vs Patterson) with both Hill and Hilliard playing. Pretty obvious that me that of the two, Hill was the much better back. And they were both SRs also so there wasn't any major age difference. Hill is an elite RB...Hilliard is just good as you said.
