Seeing Lou Holtz on an actual sideline was a bit jarring.

I wonder what it would have been like if Arnsparger had stayed for 8-10 years

I miss that Les Miles. He coached that season fearless. We may never see that Les again.

Yeah, get Les out of there, and you'll see a dramatic increase in noise and excitement.

Loved that game. Hodson was the man and Wendell caught balls like OBJ. But my favorite Tiger on that team was Sammy Martin.
For you young bucks think Hester but about 20 times tougher.

2) Wendell Davis was awesome as hell and made Hodson

Great memories of how Tiger Stadium was and will never be again..
Ole Miss and Bama this year were as good as Death Valley has ever been.
I watched highlights of 05 auburn the other day, and I had forgotten how much fun that game was. Place went nuts when he missed another FG off the uprights in overtime

Are you kidding? A guy who throws like that will be great in any era. He had arm strength, accuracy and he could read a defense. Something we haven't seen around here in years. Mett has been the only one in recent years who possessed all 3 of those skills. So yea, anyone who can do those 3 things is a modern day QB in the SEC today and a damn good one.

Yea, the Ole Miss game this past season you could have heard a pin drop. Terrible atmosphere

Hodson, Davis, Kintchen...man, those names bring back some memories....
I could tie on a hell of a drunk in those days and not even wake up with a hangover, too..
Hell yea that was my Freshman year at LSU to no hangovers...well I had a few

Whoa! Is this ever misleading. Sammy martin was nothing like Hester.
Martin was about 170 lbs, and that was being generous. He was maybe the fastest guy on the field. He might have been tough, but he certainly wasn't noted for that. Everything he did was in space. In short, he was almost completely opposite of Hester.

At least they show the score nowadays.

You haven't actually gone to a big game in a while, have you?

That brings back memories of my first games as a kid. Hodson is still the best, but I've been to many games since that had that same atomsophere if not better.

By never, I meant that atmosphere and attitude.
I was too young to remember the one LSU game I went to in the 80's but it's hard to believe that the atmosphere and attitude of the '07 Championship season doesn't compare to the Hodson days. The Florida/Auburn games that season were incredible.
The cupcake teams and the neutral site games really hurt the atmosphere now days but its hard to beat the atmosphere/attidude on Bama game days.
To say that Tiger stadium will never have the atmosphere and attitude of the 80's is a bit of an overstatement.

From an opponents perspective you are spot on. Arm strength, smarts, reading defenses. Prototypical drop-backer.
If he had time and the receiver ran the right route it was a completion, no matter the coverage. He could squeeze passes into the tightest windows. AN overlooked aspect of his game was leadership. He HAD ZERO qualms about getting in the faces of teammates.
If you ask around Bama fans Hodson is the answer to the best LSU QB 6 days a week and twice on Sunday. He and Bert Jones were the only 2 I remember fearing see come out on the field. A great guy at the same time.
Anybody remember the Hodrey days. For you younguns, Arnsparger would play Mickey Guidrey a series every half. He would almost score every series he had. As a starter no, but coming off the bench Guidrey was money
