Have some free time and and it seems like easy money on nights I'm not doing anything? Anyone tried driving for UBER in their spare time.

Why not just post on here when you're bored instead of getting a second job

The passengers tend to freak out when you take them to your "date" spot.

The onboarding process has a BUNCH of steps, but once you're onboarded... you're pretty autonomous

I used Uber Black Friday night. I requested a pick up and within 5 min there was a black Lincoln town car sitting in front of my house.

He took us to the party about 8 miles away cost me $28. Can't beat that.

Unfortunatly had to take a cab home

Isn't this uber speak for getting hired?

All the uber drivers I have talked to seem to love it. However all these drivers well located in well organized and populated cities where the program is well established. I'm in nola so it might be a bit more difficult but I have a feeling the program will catch on here shortly.

I could make good money off that surge pricing.

One of my drivers said UBER used to be amazing, but then recently instated new rules which makes it easy for anyone to be a driver. She said she has met some total weirdos who've been allowed to drive. Maybe that was her ploy to get me to just call/use her all the time (which..it worked!) but overall I got the sense that it was better 6+ months ago then it is now. Disclaimer: this was in BR so not sure if she was referring to the company as a whole, or driving for this region.

I would think that is limited to Baton Rouge only because in my market nola, uber x where anyone can be a drive is banned. Only black cars and suv's are currently allowed. These are also more expensive options.

I did it for a while, and have stopped over the past few months. The money was really good at first, but be prepared now to go sit in a parking lot and wait around for a pick up. There are a lot of drivers in the BR area, and you really need to fight for those fares.

That being said, if you hustle, and don't mind working late nights and driving around drunk people, then you can make some serious cash. I just got tired of picking up random people.

In regards to driving in other areas, supposedly when the same type of uber service is available in other cities in LA, you could theoretically drive in that city. It is based on the auto insurance that Uber has that covers your driving.

I'd be happy to answer more specific questions you may have, just don't have time to type out all of my experience, pros/cons, etc.
