We've seen less talented teams do it in recent years, so it's possible.

So I guess YOU can do better???????
No, the other 63 teams can...I thought that was clear. When did this turn into me vs. a head coach at an SEC school? Weird.
quote:
LSU runs no sets 90% of the time and just relies on its players to figure something out.
quote:
90% of the teams in the country do this....
No, they don't. The fact that you think they do is the reason you defend LSU's basketball coach.
quote:
LSU will either match up against teams that have bigger players (UK, Duke, etc.),
quote:
is when they will meet teams like UK and Duke.....
For them to be playing in the elite
LSU's problem will not be the bigs against a lot of teams. It will be guard play. My point is that LSU will be behind the 8 ball in 2 of the 3 categories in most tournament games.

Watch other teams, there is very little offense run in the college game.
On another note, TT laughs at Jordan Mickey. I love our players this year, but '06 was significantly better...significantly

quote:that doesn't make him a better talent. it just means he had a great season based on his team's system and in comparison with the other guards in the conference. that doesn't equal him being more individually talented.
DMitch was all sec
quote:again, this is a flawed argument. making the final 4 isn't merely dependent on talent. it's matchups in the tourney, coaching, injuries, luck, officiating. plus you have no idea how this team will end up. the '09 team was quite good but ran into unc early.
2006 was talented enough to make the final four. This team may not make the ncaa tourney
quote:you may not have read through the thread but, i'm not the only person who thinks this year is more talented. i've already mentioned that team chemistry or lack thereof does not directly reflect talent yet you keep making the same stupid argument.
You are the only dumbass that would say a final four team has less talent that a team struggling to beat mediocre sec teams.
quote:not solely. they look at several different factors and there have been plenty of good players who couldn't catch on in the league
And yes i look at NBA because the NBA drafts on talent.

So JJ will be the worst coach of the bunch in the whole tourney?????
Even worse than the swac coach that makes it?? With a possible losing record???
You make zero sense.

You don't watch much college bball do ya.....

So make up your mind... Either [as you say] that LSU's coach is by far the worst coach in the tourney or just MOST of the games?????

It does take all that to make a serious run. However That 2006 team had something special about it... This years team doesn't have that....
TT was a skywalker who brought people to their feet.. Big baby was the ground and pound of that team... Mitch was the heart and soul of that team... Temple was the D wizard on that team...
This years team just doesn't have THOSE kind of players....

Yes. If you really watched LSU basketball religiously, you wouldn't disagree. Watch the sideline. JJ doesn't even have a piece of paper. No clipboard, nothing. No one on the bench does. It's painfully frustrating, but you seem to think it's normal. It's just not, man. LSU hired an offensive guru in Musselman and he's not allowed to coach or design plays. This is not my opinion. This comes from the inside.

Honestly, you are a casual fan of college basketball who thinks he knows more than he does. It's ok. But you are swimming in water deeper than you can handle on this particular subject. good thing is that this is a message board and there are no repercussions.

quote:mickey is better at this than you're giving him credit. he's not bad at all. it's not his game for sure.
Neither have a jumper
quote:mickey is better offensively than tt which i think makes him a better overall player but, i don't think the 2 of them would necessarily lock horns if the 2 teams were pitted against each other.
Slight edge to TT.
quote:no doubt but, with the shot blocking ability of this year's team, i'm not sure his lead feet would get him a ton of points.
His post moves are superior compared to Mickey or Martin.

quote:that's insane. hornsby and tq would take mitchell to school. mitchell gives up 5 inches to them. hornsby is tougher in the paint. tq is more athletic. both can hit the 3 almost as good as mitchell's numbers. people are really romanticizing him a bit much.
Mitchell was a much better playmaker and outside shooter than Any guard LSU has right no

quote:that's just silly. mickey is one of lsu's best ever shot blockers - leading the conference, averages a double double, is on the wooden top 20 list, and has a better offensive game than tyrus. the guy is legit.
TT laughs at Jordan Mickey

I have been following college bball since before you were even born... If you think JJ will be the worst coach in the tourney you are a total fool that knows shite about the sport.........

But you are swimming in water deeper than you can handle on this particular subject.
You make me laugh... LSU is 15-4 and 4-2 in the SEC for a reason... But then again Billy Donavan must be a real shitty coach for the way LSU Handled FLA on the road last week....

What IS normal????????? So basically JJ doesn't coach the way YOU want him to.....
Did he steal your dog or something.. You seem to have a real grudge against the guy........

quote:this i totally agree with however, that doesn't mean they were more talented. they had a chemistry this team doesn't have yet and had better team defense. this year's team still has time to put together something special.
That 2006 team had something special about it

Man you like mediocrity.. There is way more to guard play then just height... TQ plays way out of control most of the time....

both can hit the 3 almost as good as mitchell's numbers
ALMOST huh????

As of RIGHT NOW....They were more talented... We will see how the season plays out... The most important thing for this team is to win games we SHOULD win...Can't choke those away at this point in the season......

Uh, just a small difference. UK is UNDEFEATED and probably has 10 NBA players on their roster.
Which made Zero difference in the outcomes of the aforementioned Vandy Contests. Or the OM contests for that matter.

Yep. DMITCH was 1st team all sec.

For the 5th time. He was 1st team all sec. So coaches in the sec thought he was the best pg in the sec in 2006. There is nothing to romanticize. Quarterman cant beat out Grey but you think he'd dominate all sec DMitch? Wow.
You have nothing to back your opinion. I have stats and the fact that 2006 was talented enough to make the final four.this year's team is having trouble beating mediocre teams.

Man, just stop while you're behind. People that are in the know on this particular subject (way, way up the food chain) know that he's a terrible (absolutely horrid) game coach. But you've been watching basketball for a long time...lol.
