You sure do have a lot of drama In your life ..

My life is actually fairly simple. I didn't go looking for this. Shop made a mistake, trying to figure out best way to proceed from here.

No .. You start your fair share of threads about your day to day life .. Either you have a lot of drama or you run here to start a thread every time something happens -- take your pick ..

I've started a whopping 3 threads since the start of the year.

How many have you started?

Either way, doesn't really matter - this is a message board and it is designed for people to post and actively participate or it won't exist.

None ..

Go count my threads started, if you'd like ..

For some odd reason, you want this message board to think you have an incredibly interesting and wealthy life .. Now flip through the self-serving subjects of your threads started and go to bed, Will

Eta: you started 141 threads in 2014

People can interpret my messages how they please.

If you call being married with children, along with a job that requires weekly travel interesting and wealthy, so be it. I'm thankful for my family and friends, good health and wealth.

You should look into not being so critical of people, even those online. You may find more peace and happiness. Just an observation.

Have a good evening.

What does having a family have to do with "look at me! I followed a driver I thought was drunk and called the police -- worship me!", "look at pics of my pool and outdoor kitchen and congratulate me on my $52,000 millionaire lifestyle", and the "look how great of a supervisor I am!" threads ??

You seem to need attention and Internet affirmation, Will ..Sorry you're not getting it IRL ..

But congrats on being the hero in all of your message board stories, willjeaux2 !

Approximately 30 to 40 miles had been driven with no coolant before locking up.

I am willing to bet that there is major internal damage to your vehicles engine. The rod bearings, main bearings,& the lifters are probably shot.

Drain the oil out of your vehicle and pour some of the used oil through a clean white rag. There are probably metal particles in the oil. If so, you have major internal engine damage. And it will need replacing.

Pistons are probably scorched as well.

Get a compression test.

If the cost of repairs exceeds the value of your vehicle, the insurance company of the body shop will 'total' your vehicle.

Fight all you want in court but the courts are going come down on the side of the body shops side.

If the insurance company does 'total' your vehicle. Try to negiotate with the body shop in covering the gap in your repair bill for a good remanufactured engine.

Don't settle for a junk yard engine, get a good remanufactured engine from a reputable rebuilder. I may get a little heat for this but Jasper engines are good engines.(flame away).

Just guessing, a good reman engine will run about $3K and labor about $1500-2000.

Sounds like the body shop is working in good faith with you to fix their mistake.

Good luck.

FWIW, the Nissan V6 is a pretty stout engine. It has won several industry awards.

That said, driving it to the point of locking up is serious. I wouldn't be worried about electrical or accessory issues, my concern would be internal engine damage.
Cylinder wall scoring, piston damage, rod bearings, etc.

Definitely do a couple of oil drains 200 miles apart and check for metal shards in the oil. Also, flush the radiator at least once.

The owner of the body shop should understand this and be willing to either put a new engine in or agree to repair the engine if issues crop up in the next 50,000 miles or so. This agreement would be in writing of course.

My buddy's dad leased an Altima for 3 years, and drove 80,000 miles without ever changing the oil

Yeah, the engines are extremely solid.

The rest of the car is kinda weak, though.
