Which should I choose? Does lower price equate to lower service standards or is it all about trade prices?
Optionshouse offers $4.95 trade fees. That's the cheapest I've seen but I've never heard of them so I'm hesitant to go with them.
What do the fine Money Talk folks recommend?

E*Trade. $9.99 trades but you shouldn't be trading frequently anyway.
Buy an S&P Index or ETF quarterly. VOO or SCHD

It all depends on what you want out of it.
Sharebuilder has $4 trades if you schedule them to execute on a Tuesday. Still $7 to sell.
The various places have different evaluation options, charting, indicators, etc. I use Sharebuilder and am perfectly happy.

Had an E*TRADE many moons ago. Just opened a TDAmeritrade account as I am planning to start trading a few options. I must say, I am blown away by the nice trading platform, education center, the ability to use a "paper money" account to test strategies, etc. I guess it depends on what type of trading you want to do. (My Fidelity platform, where I have most of my money stored, charges $7.95 a trade, I think.)
