Outstanding. Took my grandson this morning for youth hunt. Pretty slow but he managed to knock a drake woodie down. Back story, he got a new gun for xmas, and has only killed one, but not on his home lake. Had a group come flying by and by the time he got his gun up, they were bout out of range. He pulls up on the lead and I tell him to shoot the last one. He fires and hits it but it picks up and makes it about 100 yds or so away in the woods. We get in the boat, no way dog is gonna get it that far, and take off. Get over there, and find it and the dog makes a great retrieve diving after it several times. Even though we killed one, it was a great ending to the season.

Better than getting a limit in my book. It's all about the chase, right?

I had a lease right next door to those guys and killed some really nice deer. It was right across from the road side boat launch on "old 90". They used to run dogs but i think they've since stopped. That can be a rough swamp to walk in certain places. I have a friend that hunts behind the Schriever airport and he also does really well. The guys that hunt off of bull run road kill some of the biggest deer I've ever seen in this area.

I've heard if big deer off bull run road.
This club I'm joining has 230 acres in the front of the brule along the canal. This tract is 3 miles from my house. They also have about 2800 off of old 90. They do run dogs still. Their property isn't far from the airport.
Mr Charlie who has the Brule Hunting club and the Silverado bar use to run dogs and have stopped so that may be who you are thinking off but they hunt the labadieville side if the brule.
Im pretty excited about it. I've always hunted 2.5 hours from home. It will be nice to still be home on the weekends. They showed me some pictures of some nice deer they pull out of there

That's great man - the whole camp/driving thing is cool something's but there's nothing like going home between hunts and slapping the ole lady on the arse.

Yeah eventually I'll get a place I can go to a few times a year and get some big deer but for now, this is perfect and cheap.
There is another club in Napolianville off 3127 that is under DMAP and no dogs that I'm considering joining also. Its about 30 minutes away but no camp. Its not as much raw swamp so my wife can still hunt. She likes to hunt but won't be following me in hip boots haha
