Using phone the other day and it went dark, no power. I removed batter and plugged in power supply, no LED. I have read online about S3 black death. Is there any fix like some internet posts suggest, or is it dead like the gentleman at Verizon told me?

What did the internet posts suggest, and did you try them?

Same thing happened to mine like a week before the warranty expired. I couldn't get anything to work so they replaced it.

This happened to me 2 weeks ago. I took the battery out, held down the volume button to drain any stored energy - left battery out for a few minutes then popped it back in and it came on. It shut down on me for about 4 hours and had no light when I plugged it in either.
I don't recall doing a hard reset but you could try that as well.
