His knowledge about the modern NBA is lacking to say the least and the boston bias is awful.

He basically thinks all small markets should tank and hates what the pels are doing.

He was dead on regarding the goodell/rice fiasco though. I'll give him credit for things like that.

You just don't like the way it tastes. It's okay, Alejandro. Your next alter won't like me, either.

Somewhat. Let's not act like he's a savant or anything. 42 is a smart guy. VOR is a smart guy. Simmons is a blowhard sportswriter. That's not exactly a prerequisite for MENSA membership.

He has a great podcast.

I can't stand more than about a minute of him. He's a nasally Colin Cowherd.

Does he write an article that's often filled with one too many pop culture references? Sure. Hardly a reason to grab a pitchfork though.

I could care less about pop culture references. He thinks he's a basketball genius when he's more often than not wrong in his perceptions. Being the loudest guy in the room doesn't make one the smartest.

This has to be a joke right?

And the crux of the issue. A bunch of pels fans have a dumbass vendetta against Simmons because he doesn't like how they've decided to approach things.

He's dead on with majority of things.

I've thought Simmons was an annoying dumbass far before he started paying attention to the Hornets/Pelicans.

What do you think about his knowledge about the current nba?

Which he's made very annoyingly clear. I just don't like how he views small markets.

I never really had the highest opinion of him before that anyway. That's just me though.

With a few things yes but I don't think the "majority".

Does he know more than a guy like Zach Lowe? No, but he is much more intelligent about the league then 99% of the talking heads you will see anywhere else. Plus I'd argue he is better at predicting things that will happen down the road better than Lowe.

The Grantland Basketball hour has been brilliant.

Like picking this the Grizzlies as his finals favorite, coming on the local radio here to break down the Jeff Green trade, talking glowingly about the Spurs, mocking OKC for being cheap with Harden.

What in god's name do you not like other than him disagreeing with how the Pelican's front office has done things?

No he is.

What makes him a blowhard? I don't see him beating his chest about much. And he'll happily let you know when he screwed up.

You're missing a ton of great basketball discussion because you can't listen to a nasally voice.

He relies a bit too much on the expertise of his guests, but there's nothing wrong with that for a guy who writes about all three of the major sports AND pop culture.

I guess that's fair if you view it that way.

Well he wasn't the only one I'm sure. The grizz are a damn good team that has a lot of experience/smart and are well coached. They've also had a lot of success so picking them wasn't totally outlandish at all(hell I think you guys can do it).

I thought they did sell way too low. I don't disagree.

I just don't like the way he comes across on certain things. I do give him credit when he's right(see rice/goddell).

I also don't see why some hop on his nuts for everything.

Yeah, he's a blowhard. He likes the attention and says stupid crap just to get it. I remember when he kept mouthing off about Doc Rivers during the draft and when Doc challenged him, he cowarded and let the other announcer talk until Doc was gone. He is a typical shock-jock type who really does not know as much as he claims to know.

No I've defended him just as hard in the past, mainly during the draft this past year.

Amazingly I was arguing with fans of the same fanbase that I am arguing with right now...

The only real question mark on the roster is the Jrue/EG/Tyreke fit which we DID figure out before jrue got hurt.

The 3 is a patchwork but Q-pon/dante are solid guys(One of which who we traded a redundant asset for and you can see the difference) and I've liked what they've brought.

Oh and monty but that's obvious
