We have had greats over the years.... Tommy Banks, Jacob Hester, JC Copeland. Seems like since they left we haven't had much, Neighbors was ok but rarely got the ball. Seems like these days they are just another big bodied blocker than ball carrier.
Do we have any currently on our recruiting radar?

FBs rarely carry the ball anymore in any scheme.

We may not need a Fullback much anymore. The way the spread is taking over the game.

JC Copeland against Bama is why you don't let them run much

You realize Jacob Hester played Tailback that entire season and much of the season before right? Hell he played more tailback then fullback overall in his career at LSU.

"The way the spread is taking over the game"

The spread taking over the game at LSU.... I doubt it.

Didn't Hester get a significant amount of time at the TB position as well?

Ryno is right, Im ok with picking up a first down with a FB etc, But when you have a Leonard Fournette or Darrell Williams to run the ball why give it to the fullback?

He was a big TB who we would put in as FB with other RBs to give us more options

Dude have 1000+ yards in 2007

I would argue that we let the FB carry the ball TOO much.

JC copeland certainly got too many opportunities in big games in his career than he should have

Copeland did tend to cough the ball up on the goal line on occasion

the fullback always was a bruising back, who typically blocks and occasionally gets the ball, typically in short yardage situations.

Also, with the way Fournette brings the hat, he can be your bruising back with the speed of a tailback.

Hester lining up at FB was more of a gimmick package, he was never an overpowering blocker.

Give me a Kevin Steltz, Quinn Johnson type weight room junkie that just wants to hit. Our scheme is better with that.

David Ducre will be a better runner than all of them.

This kid is a monster and has great speed for his size.
