A Baton Rouge area band director accused of raping a student was arrested Thursday, Casey Rayborn-Hicks, a spokesperson for the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office said late Thursday night.
Robert M. Lewis, 30, was booked with forcible rape and prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and a student. Lewis, of Zachary, is reportedly a band director at Scotlandville Magnet High School.
Lewis allegedly attended a school function with one of his 17-year-old students on Nov. 7, Hicks said.
Lewis allegedly gave the student a ride home from the function, according to an affidavit of probable cause. Lewis is accused of making sexual advances toward the student, at which time she said she pushed him away.
The student's parents went out of town on Nov. 29, when Lewis allegedly brought food to the student. Lewis allegedly initiated sex, but the student told him no, Hicks said. However, Lewis allegedly continued to have sex with the 17-year-old.
Reports say the teacher then met with the student on a second occasion on Dec. 5.
Lewis allegedly went to the student's residence while her parents were not home to watch a movie. The student told authorities on this date the two had consensual sex.

She's of age. Unless it really was rape I don't see the legal issue. Is he considered a teacher?
ETA: nevermind, totally missed the "his student" part

He should just say the two are soulmates and interconnected, etc.
Just use a ton of Nicholas Sparks movie themes that allows womenz to get away with rape.

I have detected a problem with her story. He's still fired and very much in trouble - but the whole "forcible rape" isn't going to fly with a jury who hears they subsequently had consensual sex.

She must have enjoyed being raped

These teachers need to spend more time on the OT, so they can spend less time on the OT.

None of us KNOW.
But, she could have resisted some the first couple times, but he knew she was close to giving in and kept pressing till she gave in.
The next time or two it got easier, for both of them.
Then she decides, ughhh NO DUDE, this ain't gonna continue. At least she didn't wait a year or two to speak up.
The scary thing is for the parents of all of his past students.

Can she be prosecuted or counter sued for damages by him?

You realize why this is against the law?
Think about what you're arguing.

No, I do not follow. She is of age. She said herself she invited him over for a movie when no one was home. That was obviously to get some dick which he obliged.
And to me that makes her first claim of rape bullshite.

You aren't very bright, are you?
Teacher/student relations are a no-no

Im all for him being punished for this but she's of age and it obviously wasn't forcible rape like she's claiming. That charge should be dropped.

Kinda think you are the one that isn't too damn bright and is having trouble seeing there are two issues.
He should will be fired for the teacher student thing.
The rape allegation is a serious life altering criminal charge.
I think it smells like bullshite here.

You may not agree with it, but can absolutely fly depending on the circumstances.
If marital rape is recognized by the law, so is this.
