That's what makes cruising out of New Orleans so great. The port is a straight shot off interstate, and it's just a few hours drive from home. The cruise itinerary is always the same, and that gets a little stale, but just can't justify the added expense of flying the whole family to Miami.

New Orleans only gets the older NCL ships. Spirit, Jewel, and now Dawn. With the 4 port days of a 7 day cruise though, you only spend 2 sea days on the boat. I look at the ship as more of a taxi to get me to the ports, so the ship isn't as important as the destinations. That's from cruising the older ships though. Those new ones are (Getaway, Escape, etc.) are the center of attention for lots of cruisers though. The ship actually overshadows the destinations.
