That is still bullshite. Why should a citizen have to pay money and get permission to exercise a basic right.

Those other five states are doing it right.

$500.

Not sure if you have to retake the class.

You prepay for 20 years worth (so 4 times the regular $125 = $500). But you still have to provide proof of training every 5 years. So you don't pay the state again, just your instructor.

But I never suggest it to students because I think we will have Constitutional Carry in that time span.

I agree we should do away with drivers licenses too. Stupid idea everyone should have the right to drive whatever they want.

I think I agree with your sentiment, but there isn't a constitutional amendment specifically targeting automobiles and the right to drive them.

I'll GLADLY pay a fee/renewal fee every 5 years. I just don't want to have to sit all day in a class...AGAIN.

I only took one Dr Ed class and I only took one test. I get a sticker in the mail every few years to put on my license and I send in a fee, WHICH is what I said I was okay with so try again.

You're mixing apples and tangerines.

When you're driving, you have signs to remind you of rules -- no passing zones, speed limits, fasten seat belts, left lane for passing, etc.

When you carry a gun, the rules that apply to using that weapon aren't printed on signs.

People take drivers' ed to learn how to drive.

People take (should be taking) a CHP class to learn the laws that regulate the use of deadly force, brandishing, etc., and the rules that regulate concealed carry (where you can and cannot carry).

I'll bet $100 against $10 that the majority of people with permits have no comprehension of Louisiana's deadly force laws 12 months after they take a class (assuming they walked out with a real understanding in the first place).

Just my $.02

Here in Mississippi, one does not need to take a class like in Louisiana.

For the basic permit no. For the Enhanced permit you must take a class that includes class room and shooting proficiency.

I'm ok with education component for carry but the hunter Ed requirement is a cluster frick it took almost 2 years to get a few kids I know into the program.
