I wasn't exactly thrilled while watching the LSU/TENN game that the announcers brought up that pretty much our entire staff is former UT products.

the recruiting and coaching has dropped off a cliff, are we getting the UT people that they did not want?

I would then say that the Virgina pedigree is what we need at LSU and not UT.

I have a feeling that just went over your head.

My point was that maybe we can utilize some of our great former players to bring in recruits

Again, there's not really any out there in coaching positions above GA except one and she's not coming back.

Caldwell can develop players and has very good schemes. While coaching is great, it can only do you so much. I feel like more than half the game in WBB is recruiting. Our biggest issues this team has is we don't have the players. Our only offensive and defensive threats have been Ballard, Moncried, and Harden. Post play is vital, having a big body who can score, rebound, and draw defenders. That's why people have a difficult time defending Tennessee. What ever happened to Fareo?

---maybe it did. I was assuming he was referring to the fact that both coaches did stints at Virgina before going on to successful careers at their respective universities...USC and UCONN. I'm saying that if that is the case maybe we need a coaching staff of former VA coaches instead of UT. Maybe that is the shadow we need to live under....but, again, maybe I am not understanding his quip....

I agree with you Tigerbait357 she is a talented coach in many respects and I do like her. We can't match up with most top 10 teams physically on a consistent basis because we generally get outgunned physically or fundamentally. She gets exceptional play from the talent she draws in....can you imagine if she got consistent top 10-15 classes?

She must have been out recruiting the four years she was at UVA.

We do have to get better recruiting, though I disagree it has to be someone local because La. has been a wasteland in recruiting for while now(besides Brown who probably wasn't coming no matter what). Coco Baker, Halle Washington, Tori Scott were the biggest recruits and they're all reserves in the SEC or worse.

Saints,
I agree with what you are saying. Louisiana is pretty much talent wasteland especially compared to TX, CA, FL and even GA/TN. Which leads to the next question: does she go for a TX recruiting assistant or a SE US recruiting assistant? I think CA is out of the question for the most part.

TX. We seem to do a decent enough job in FL, GA, AL already.

Caldwell gets criticized for recruiting but Louisiana hasn't been producing high quality players. The final four runs were due to a generational player who attracts other quality players...Seimone Augustus. Alana Beard (Southwood) is the only other player with a lot of hype but she went to Duke which is understandable. There only a few teams that can just pluck the best players from around the country. When you throw in schools like Stanford, Duke, and Notre Dame that will attract star players who want a high quality education, that makes the talent pool smaller.

Texas is loaded with talent. I support Caldwell, I like her a lot. Her first year here was impressive. In my opinion, if Hughes doesn't get hurt, I think we had the best team in the conference. She was the glue for that team, excellent point guard. We were playing great until she got hurt, then we fell apart a little because we didn't have a PG. I hope Caldwell can develop Amichia

Man, I am so glad you said that. I wholeheartedly agree. If Destini wouldn't have gotten hurt, not only would we have won that Tennesse game at TBA, we would've won the SEC tournament as well. But I digress.................

I do believe that Nikki realizes that recruiting is where the program's weakness is. Keep in mind that she had Stacie Terry on her staff while she was at UCLA (and the first year here) and she was pulling in some top classes because Terry was a top west coast recruiter. I really believe Nikki will bring someone in who's going to add in that department. If we all see it..........surely she does as well.

Former Baylor assistant now runs a HS scouting service Damion McKinney would be the perfect fit for LSU

But Peck and Gail wouldn't be bad either.

Louisiana has a lot of talent coming up hopefully we can land Kechelle Figueroa of Warren Easton, she's Ballard 2.0
