It should be the decision of the bar owner, not the government.
Those bars are in their city. Almost every other major city has gone this direction. It'll be ok.

As much as I despise smoking, this is ridiculous

I don't like smoking and don't like being aroun smoking.
With that said, I HATE the government telling people what they can and cannot do, no matter what it is.
If a restraunt, bar, casino, etc. want to ban smoking than they have the right to on their own. Government shouldn't force every PRIVATE business to be non smoking.

I don't like it from a political standpoint, but personally I'll take not smelling like smoke when I go out.
Dude, you spent pages arguing politically for this on F&DB, and now you don't like it?

How so?

I never said I agreed with it for anything other than selfish personal reasons.

As a smoker, no smoking in bars isn't a big deal to me. I don't particularly care for smoking indoors anyway. There's a smoking ban in bars in Dallas and I just excuse myself outside to the patio. The only thing I was worried about was places like Dos Jefes and hookah bars, but it looks like they're grandfathered in.
What will be interesting to see is how they enforce the ban in parks, outdoor amphitheaters, and the Fairgrounds. Are they gonna start kicking people out for lighting up at Jazz Fest?

Those businesses will never make those decisions on their own. It needed to be done and now it is. Everyone is on a level playing field now.

The casinos and bars are excluded though. Did I read that right? Thats places Im most likely to go and end up smelling like smoke. Most hotels already ban smoking.

They don't enforce smoking weed at jazz fest, why would they care about cigarettes?

Smoking bars it's ik to smoke, and you can smoke in designated outdoor areas for the other businesses. What's confusing about that?

They need to. At least a bunch of people have started to just bring their vape shite instead of lighting up.

Plenty of places were smoke free.
