Marques Ford, 4-star defensive end, recently was notified by Tennessee that he no longer had an offer. If there isn't a disciplinary issue, this is a golden opportunity to steal one.

I totally agree! I saw that article yesterday, and was hope LSU takes advantage. Huge position need and would be a great fit

something doesn't smell right with this one. I searched and he had a great week at all star game. not sure what went wrong. I will trust coaches on this one.

yeah I posted this earlier, thought there was something up but others on here said Tennessee just has a lot already. I would think Coach O is on it!

Tennessee's class is full to the brim and they had to make room. I haven't heard any Ten people say anything about red flags on him. I agree, we need to jump on with the quickness.

Ford is a great player... strong and well coached at DE. He is a high character guy, and as far as I know, his grades are in order.

Would be a great fit at LSU. I'm bummed he isn't going to sign with us.

Tennessee must be having a monster year if this guy is their 26th best commitment

he's not their 26th best commit, he's alot higher than that. they just have 2 guys at the same position rated higher than him, he's just not at a position of need for them. For example, they have a 2-star long-snapper that they're keeping bc they NEED a long snapper, they don't NEED another DE

Exactly. UT is about to be stacked at DE; however, our OL has huge question marks. An OT or two is a much more pressing need at the moment. There are a dozen guys UT fans would've liked to see decommit before Ford. It just didn't work out that way.

I get that. But normally a four star guy is someone you make room for even if you don't need him. Here, they are shedding him.

i agree, it is weird to see a 4-star get let go, but he's a very low 4-star, we'll call him a 3.5 star

this situation is different though, UT is loaded at that position, and we're not, its a position of need, and we have more than enough room, while UT has to cut players to make room

You can't judge him based on who turned him down, a lot of schools make that mistake. You have to evaluate him yourself and decide if he fits your system and needs. If he does you have to take him.

Tennessee is loaded at DE, loaded in the class, and want to flip OL Drew Richmond, and pick up OL Patrick Allen who decommitted from UGA.

He committed and was a 3 star and worked his way at the UA game to a 4 star. Remember last year when that short corner who was committed to us for a long while "decommitted"??? He was a 4 star as well. I think we both came to a mutual parting.
