How are the speeds in accordance to the advertising? It advertises at 100 mpbs DL and 10 mphs Upload

Although a sales associate told me that the Premier package got up to 20 mphs upload.....upload is very important to me because of the work I do.

Anyone have experience with this product?

TIA

Good question....I'm about to order these services. Is it cheaper to order online or over the phone?

This is about the norm for me (also have premier), using the same equipment as bluebarracuda. My bottleneck is somewhere outside the house, but it's not bad enough to complain.

I have the 40mbps package and I know I generally get 20-29. About 8 up.

So I would be surprised if I ever really got what I pay for. You would think I could downgrade it the 20mbps package and get similar speed. But in reality I would get about 10.

That entirely depends on your home environment -- how many devices will be connected to wifi, and what are they specifically? How big is your house, and where would the router be positioned (for example, positioned on the ceiling in the direct center of the house, even a fairly large home can get away with a mediocre/cheap router in terms of coverage/range, but hardly anyone does that).

When you sign up with Cox, by default they are going to want you to rent or buy one of their residential gateways, which is a modem and wireless router in one. They are fine as modems, but poor at wireless throughput and handling multiple clients. You'll get the best experience by purchasing your own modem and router (as two separate devices). For the modem, you want something with 8 bonded channels so you have access to cox's entire downstream pipeline during the busiest of hours. Popular choices are the Cisco DPC3010 and the Motorola SB6141. Both can be had at Amazon, Newegg, etc.

I own my own equipment. The router was fairly cheap and I am running more devices than I can count from it.

At the time of my most recent modem purchase, the DPC3010 had 10-15 different Amazon vendors selling used-like new or Refurb'd models for $20-25 and shipped with Prime. It got my purchase, and I would recommend it. I only have the most basic Internet package (thanks to a very stingy roommate, but since it's the two of us, we don't need all that much bandwidth anyway), so I can't speak to its performance near the upper ends, but I consistently get my advertised down/up speeds and have not had any problems with it. At the price I got it for, it was a total steal.

I also picked up an Apple AirPort Extreme (current edition, 802.11ac) used off Craigslist from someone who changed services to U-verse and was using their provided router for something like $55. If you know what you're looking for and how to spot a deal, Craigslist is a great place to shop for routers. If you aren't good at being able to scrutinize what seems like a fantastic deal (I always ask "so why are you getting rid of it, if you don't mind me asking?" And usually can sort through BS answers...or at least I've never been cheated on anything I went through with buying), then stick to something with a guaranty like a big box store, Amazon, newegg, tigerdirect, or eBay if they take PayPal and advertise as "new" or "like new."

As stated before, before a router recommendation worth your time in reading can be given, you should provide the most mundane, boring details about the number of people, rooms, size/distance, devices (number and type), number of hardwired devices, number of devices accessing Internet at the same time and what they're accessing or you may find yourself disappointed.
