I think his lack of minutes tonight was Wolters being near the end of his 10 day contract and needing some more evaluation.

Ajinca

The Lakers don't have much of a front line so Monty went small. 6 minutes for Ajinca and only 22 for Ryno.

Since Jrue will be out for at least a month we should resign Wolters for the rest of the year

Is he really any better than Rivers, who most of us were happy to see off the team? Can't shoot, can penetrate, bad at FTs, not a good defender.

Ajinca has played well as of late, but he fouls way too often.

Yea he basically is Austin Rivers. I thought he was a littler smoother than Rivers up until last night, now not so much.

Who are we talking about here?
Both Jimmer and Wolters are better shooters than Rivers. Both look to get others involved more, and i wish Jimmer would create more for himself and shoot more. It's not like he forgot how to shoot. He shot 40% from 3 in college for 3 years, most of those shots were either from NBA range and/or highly contested. He's also great at hitting those off balance mid range shots.
He needs to play more and when he's in there with Tyreke with the second unit, he and Ryno should be running around the 3 point line looking for their shot while Tyreke penetrates.

Wolters.

Wolters finishes better, but neither of them are good shooters looking at the stats. It sounds like you saw him play a lot in college, so hopefully you're right, but I just see another end of bench guard. Jimmer used to be a good shooter too. I have no idea what happened to him. He's actually getting very good looks and not knocking them down. Maybe he and Ryno need to stop hanging out together.

Yeah, he hasn't shown much to get excited about. I'd rather see Jimmer out there. With that said, I agree with your statement about his PT being an evaluation before offering another 10-day contract.

I can't say I'd prefer him over Mekel at this point.

People seemed pretty high on Wolters after last season. Waiving him for the corpse of Kenyon Martin was widely criticized and many people were surprised he cleared waivers. Kidd didn't give him much of a shot this season, with the emergence of Brandon Knight, but Wolters showed some things in a lot of minutes as a rookie. I think he's worth another 10 day to take a look at the least.

As for shooting, he is definitely not a 3pt threat, but shot 61.5% from 0-3ft last season with 35% of his FGAs coming from that range. That alone makes him more valuable than Rivers. Shot 43% from mid-range, which isn't great, but not terrible either. As for the FT%, I think that's more of a sample size issue. He's only taken 94 FTs as a pro (64% on those). In college, he hit 187/230 FTs (81%). I'd expect his FT% to go nowhere but up from here. It's be pretty unusual for someone who shot that well in 4 years of college to completely forget how to shoot. Keep in mind Austin was just as terrible on FTs at Duke as he is now.

yeah i was talking about Jimmer.
If we are going forward with Reke coming off the bench, then i like a lineup with Jimmer at PG, Ryno, Ajinca, and QPon. Rather Dante start as the starters don't need the offense as much, assuming Jrue is playing.

Jimmer isn't that small of a guy, and has shown he can take a hit and finish. He needs to revert back to being a scorer instead of a facilitator.
Tyreke needs to be the PG with the second unit. Jimmer should be running off screens and shooting more threes with Ryno. You have QPon in the corner, where's he's best from, and Ryno and Jimmer playing the 3 point line with Ajinca running the pick and pop/roll with Tyreke, and that should create a lot of open shots with that second unit.

I know Jimmer hasn't been great from 3, but i just don't believe he forgot how to shoot. 40% 3 point shooter in college. He looks like he's not sure if he should be shooting the three or not most of the time. Him and Ryno just need their confidence back, and we'll have a much stronger team when those two guys can hit threes with that 2nd unit.

Basically, the second unit needs to play an uptempo, share the ball and penetrate to create open shots and lanes. They have a great lineup to be successful at that type of offense.

Jimmer has to stay at point guard because he seems to shot better when he is on the run, he is not a spot shooter

I agree he's better on the run. Outside of running down the court and jacking up a three immediately, i think he should have the ball less in his hands and play more of a kyle korver/ray allen type role running off screens. He seems like the kind of guy that would rather get a shot off with someone in his face and under duress than shoot a wide open set shot 3.

So you value Jimmer so little that you give another guy a whole game with his minutes. That seems odd. You are too good a man Jimmer.
