After suddenly delaying the title last May, Bethesda is finally giving us a release date for its Elder Scrolls MMO. Mark your calendars: June 9th is the date The Elder Scrolls Online (now subtitled Tamriel Unlimited) comes to Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and there are a few welcome changes to boot.
Along with the release date, Bethesda is announcing the end of its subscription strategy. The game will now be priced like every other console game: a one time purchase will grant you access to the entire game. Previously, Elder Scrolls was intended to be entirely subscription-based. There is still a "premium" subscription service called ESO Plus, however, which will grant users access to in-game items and some Crowns (in-game currency) to spend, but it's not required to play the game. The subscription will also grant access to all available DLC expansions.
PC and Mac gamers currently playing the original Elder Scrolls Online will receive all the additional content of Tamriel Unlimited as a free update on March 17th. Those with an active subscription will automatically be enrolled in the ESO Plus program. According to the game's director Matt Firor, the decision to can the subscription strategy was in response to fan feedback. It may also explain why the game will come out over a year after it was originally scheduled for release. "Our fans are our biggest inspiration, and we've listened to their feedback on the entertainment experience they want," says Firor."We have made numerous changes to the game over the past year, and are confident this is a game that Elder Scrolls fans will love to play."
If you're unsure what Elder Scrolls Online is and why you should care, Bethesda has released a new seven-and-a-half minute cinematic trailer that shows no gameplay and won't be of any help at all. Enjoy!

Their only chance to save this, and I'm still not sure it works.

No interest. Not even sure I would play if they paid me.
I think I still have Skyrim fatigue.
I played the Beta for a few hours and didn't enjoy it at all.

Did they fix it to where you could do missions with people even if you weren't as far along in the main story as others? I know that was a huge issue people had. If you were starting a mission together and there was a puzzle to open the door, every member in the party would have to solve the puzzle to move on. One person couldn't do it for everyone. If they fix those types of issues, I may give it a shot.

Good luck to them. I'm mildly interested in seeing what it's like, but ESO kinda fell flat after launch.

As a person who has been helplessly addicted to Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, I could not care less about this game.

A lot of us played the beta for a few hours and then never gave it another shot. Things maybe improved now though.

i was a huge fanboy and did a 6 month subscription at release. played 2 months. I may see if theres a way to transfer my purchase to XB1 and get a free download.

Thank you for a proper use of this phrase.
And I agree the single player experience is what makes the Elder Scrolls the Elder Scrolls.
I also have a feeling that don't have any info on Fallout 4 yet b/c Bethesda has been trying to salvage this game and didn't want Todd Howard's next title to steal its thunder.

I got an email yesterday to pre-purchase the console download for 20 bucks and transfer my account. I played the PC version for about 2 days and stopped but decided to go ahead and buy the PS4 version for 20 bucks. Even if it turns out to be a "get online and tinker for an hour" type of game for me, I have spent 20 on far worse things.

Played beta and was massively unimpressed. I read some recent reviews after Unlimited was released though. Completely revamped the leveling system, the justice system, and PvP system. Everything I'm reading now is raving about it. Saying its one of the greatest turnarounds a game has ever made.
