Porter's attorney, Jenkins, is really making it more "high profile" than it is.

An arrest is an arrest for the NFL. He's got a strategy exposing how flimsy this sounds in the public. Without all of the info, it sure seems like a woman scorned at first glance.

He allegedly THREATENED HER......

and he says he was out of town at the time it allegedly took place.

Lets not jump to conclusions here.

Athletes may have been somewhat privileged in the past. I am not sure that is the case presently.

If there are facts and evidence, then make the arrest.

If the claims turn out to be false, there should be some type of recourse action for the athlete other than just a liability suit, such as lying to a police officer or something.

True.

Lots of questions not asked. Research not done.
It's a little more than a crime beat report without the usual facts.

Like, "Then where was your client when this alleged incident took place?"

(obviously he could have phoned the alleged threat, then were phone records subpoenaed?)

A little research into if police had been called before this alleged incident took place as well.

And if it is a he/she said, then this is the criteria for an arrest? (not saying anyone threatening harm shouldn't be arrested, just pointing out what a reporter should be asking) Or did police look at substantiating the claim(s).

And like facts like when was he arrested, Dec.31st? or some time after. Where was he arrested. Presenting independent facts is usually helpful when writing a story.

So looks like to me since this is a story that is considered newsworthy(more than a crime beat report) because of the prior incidents committed by NFL players and the league's stance on it, and of local interest because of who is involved.
That seems to be angle of "the story" not really looking INTO the actual case.
