New Vehicle - Inspection Sticker
Posted on 1/20/15 at 6:54 pm

I purchased a new truck mid November 2014 from a dealership in Tangi parish. Apparently since I registered the vehicle in a different parish (not to be discussed), I was not provided an inspection sticker. The dealer told me there was a 90 day grace period to get an inspection sticker on my own, so I was just going to milk as most as the 90 days as possible before I got one. Stupid, I know.
Well, I just got a ticket for it. My question--is there really a grace period for this or did that nice, morally inclined young salesman do me dirty?

I don't see why there'd be a grace period, but I also didn't think you legally get a one month grace period from its expiration in LA.

I didn't get one when I bought a new car in November. I was under the impression that I had until the temp tag expired, but I got one right away anyway.

I was told by the causeway cops that you have 10 days to change your address to a different parish if it differs from the registration address. Dealership should have given you one either way

Why didn't the dealer have a sticker on it?

I still don't have one on my Jeep

Not sure why they didn't still give you an inspection sticker.

Your vehicle has to be inspected in the parish it is registered to. I think the laws in my parish might be different. Only saying that because I know that it would be $20 to get one and in most other parishes it is $10.

Yeah, aren't the legally supposed to since its bing purchased from them? I don't really know what I'm talking about but it just seems like something that should work like that

If you move, then you are required by law to update the registration and your license info. I just had to deal with all this shite after finally switching over from info from EBR to Orleans parish. Fun times at the DMV and ABC title...

It can be inspected in surrounding parishes...I think they have to border each other

I bought my truck a few parishes over, and it came with an inspection sticker.

I'll have to call tomorrow. Just saw on the purchase agreement that I actually paid for the inspection also. That's cool, they'll just be paying my ticket

I got two tickets on one week while trying to sort through all the insurance shite due to some block on my license from when I moved from Houston. Those tickets add up quick

The dummy-ness of Livingston Parish never sleeps.
Amazing.
Pay the ticket, you were operating a motor vehicle illegally on public roads. There is a thirty-day grace period from time of purchase.

I have never paid attention but it seems they would require an inspection sticker to test drive. Mine had one. Salesman must have been a dumbass.

I got my truck in Rapides and I live in Natchitoches. Mine came with a sticker.
