NOPD arrests 10 suspects in armed robbery cases over the weekend

Police say that a couple, a 31-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, were carjacked near the intersection of Poland Avenue and Burgundy Street around 9 p.m. Saturday.

Officers say that two other men were following the suspect in a red PT Cruiser. The men approached the victim's brother and robbed him at gunpoint. The suspects then fled the scene.
Officers state that they pursued Patton in the stolen vehicle. Patton crashed the stolen car and was apprehended, police say. Officers are still searching for the men in the red PT Cruiser.

I'm supposed to head to NOLA on Friday night for a concert in the quarter, will I be safe or should I just hire a cab from parking spot to the building and back?

I was in the Quarter this weekend and it was fine. It seems like the NOPD has finally been working over time and cracking down in the last couple weeks or so. That said, where is the concert at relative to your parking? If you're parking at Canal place and walking to House of Blues, you'll be fine.

On another note. Why doesn't Orleans get a backdrop for their mugshots? It always seems weird to see the exposed ceiling rafters or whatever that is in the background.

WOW...NOPD doing good work ! Still think more sting/bait-car ops would net IMMEDIATE results. 10 arrested, mostly juveniles, how quickly will the animals be back on the streets....better outcome would have been 5 shot/killed and 5 seriously wounded...would send a better message to all the young thugs !

I am always confused as to how these car jackings happen. Someone comes up to my window with a gun I'm slamming on the gas pedal. I'd think your odds of getting shoot are even less than if you complied with the robber and got out the car. I could be wrong about that but I'd imagine they want to avoid being charged with murder more than anything (definitely not worried about robbery charges).

Very difficult to stop those type of animals from re-producing sooo many street thugs....other than shooting them...what would you suggest ?
I firmly believe a very violent and very "public" response will effectively discourage/ if not limit the numbers of these young criminals !
