Dunno, we'll have to wait until the deal is done for that info.

Strasburg or Zimmerman will be traded if they do land him.

It is, but they already ranked as the top rotation before this Scherzer potential deal.

It's just really confusing to me I guess, don't get it.

I'm not even sure over a potential 7 years that I'd rather have Scherzer over Zimmerman to be honest when you factor in Jordan being 2 years younger and 30+ million cheaper.

Zimmerman is a FA after this season, is due 15 million and would command 25-30m... Guess they think Max will hold up better over long haul. Personally I would trade Strasburg before Zimmerman

Yeah I know that, Zimmerman will command 140ish million, meanwhile Max is going to get around 180-190 in this potential deal, and Jordan is 2 years younger.

I would trade Strasburg before Zimmerman too.

I just don't know how much better this really makes them overall, losing either Stras or Zimmerman to gain Scherzer. Better yes, but that much more for the money? Idk.

Really wanted him on the Cards. That Nats rotation is going to be stupid good. Braves might not get a run off them all year.

I didn't...I rather they trade for an arm instead of throwing around a lot of money.

So either they sit tight with Zimmerman and Strasburg. OR they sign Scherzer and then get to trade for a part they need.

Seems like a no brainer if they aren't getting worse by swapping pitchers.

Not that expected Houston to even come close to landing Scherzer, I'd be PISSED if they signed him for 7 years to a 30 year old.

That contract better be front ended

There were rumors of the Nats moving Zimmerman before this. They have a lot of guys expiring next year.

MLB contracts are based on the average annual value, which means front loading or backloading doesn't matter. They are also completely guaranteed.

Assuming the same total value of the contract, it's always in the team's best interest to backload it due to time value of money.

Correct, now it's not a rumor though, Zimmerman or Strasburg will be moved.

Would love to have either one, moreso Jordan.
