Is it okay to use human shampoo/soap on a dog?

Of course but if you are worried put a tiny bit on its stomach and check back in 12-24 hours for any reaction. No reaction and you are good.

I would think it would be ok, but my neighbor did this one time because it was out of pet shampoo and the dog broke out in a rash

If you must use human shampoo make sure to dilute it or use as little as necessary.

it is fine to use human shampoo on dogs...we are the whimpiest species on the planet...

fwiw, Dawn dish washing liquid will kill every flea on a dog...you will literally see them falling off while bathing him...

also, Murphy oil soap (the stuff used to clean hardwood floors) will make him smell good and his coat will be shinier than any dog shampoo I have ever found...

I always use dawn on my dog. It works better than any dog shampoo out there.It's used to clean animals in oil spills.
