Anybody ever see semi's driving around selling furniture out the back for discount prices? Supposedly somebody cancelled their order and they need to unload. Is this a scam?

Have you never heard the term, 'out of the back of a truck?'

Reputable furniture companies would never do that.

Maybe someone got his furniture stolen and maybe he didn't. Nobody knows better, right?

Just like the guys in parking lots who ordered speakers to sell and the distributor accidently sent them an extra pair so they will make a one-time deal of $100 for speakers that normally go for $600.

Isn't it still illegal to buy stolen items even if you didn't know?

I had a guy knock on my door a few weekends ago and offer so sell me some furniture out of his semi that was behind him on my street. He held up a paper saying it was his permit to solicit door to door in Baton Rouge. I didn't even bother checking if it was legit. I just said I am not interested. It felt very scammy.

Same thing happened yesterday in my neighborhood in Prairieville. Rang the doorbell and our dog started barking. I opened the door and he was heading back to the street saying he had the wrong house. My neighbor said he talked to him about buying furniture and that he had a permit from ascension parish to go door to door.

The ones from North Carolina are usually legit furniture. The stories are pure bullshite. Don't know why they make up those chock and bull stories. Must be the moonshiner blood in them.

They were in our subdivision last weekend. We bought a recliner from them. They are legit, you can look up the company online. They had all the req'd permits from the parish. A interior decorator made an order and would not expect it all when they delivered so they are trying to unload it for cost.

...that might be what you meant.

But it doesn't help the story make sense.
