Thinking about becoming a mobile notary.

How does one become a notary? I'm thinking of being available 24 hours and I drive to the person needing the notary. FYI it's in TN

How much money does that bring in?

Start Here
I do mobile notary on the side and its profitable where I live. Lots of contracts for local chemical plants.
Best of luck to you.

90% of what a notary does is auto title transfers. The rest is lien waivers, bills of sale, etc
you won't need to be mobile
if you want to make money you want to set up an auto title business

I really didn't have to. I worked in the maintenance/construction industry for awhile now and it just kind of took off from there. I would suggest starting with social media. Facebook and Twitter and for sure Linkedin. Word of mouth was my best source of advertisemet.

Awesome! What do you charge if you don't mind me asking?

It depends. Some of these people I do a butt load of business for and at times it's in bulk but if it's local it's $40 per signature. And I can't stress this enough, make sure everyone understands that it's not by contract but by signature. A contract or affidavit may have 5 different places to notorize.
In the state of LA a notary can do almost as much as an attorney can yet they charge twice as much. Not sure what area you are in but I would call a local attorney and ask what his rate is and go from there.

Louisiana may be one of the harder states in the country to become a notary ..
